How much detail will we see on map? How many levels of zoom are there?

Only if the colors aren't screwy, which is why EUII has less zooms.

Plus the map is just of Europe, so the most you're gonna get is all of Europe. :)

But the max zoom was much, much different from EU1 to EU2.

Yep, something like EU2 + 2 more levels (you could see almost all of the world).

I'm refering to the max zoom in size. (It's going to look awful crowded with 3x as many provinces, and no extra zoom in level)

personally, i don't want a zoom that shows all of europe; the monarchs didn't what was going on from one end to the other, why should i? i think that known provinces need to be reduced (byzantium knowing the whole of scotland and ireland, please), and that the zoom should go like this:

maximum - you see ile de france, and maybe 6 surrounding provinces at most

middle - you see all of france plus maybe one of navarre, two of the holy roman empire, and one of england at most

minimum - you see half of britian, half of the iberian peninsula, and a quarter of central europe (an imaginary arc from what will be the netherlands to northern italy)

any more than that i think is too much at a time, leading to unfair planning on the part of the player.

Huh? Stephanos, how much planning did you do at max zoom out in EU1? The point of that zoom lies in easy screenshots.

Next you'll suggest dumping the graphics entirely in favour of a menu based text game.:)

I have to disagree with you Stephanos. The problem you mention is one of fog of war, not one of zoom levels.

As it is now in EU2 you can still learn what's going on around the world, you just need to scroll around the map. I'd prefer a higher zoom level to show me all that same information in one screen shot.

Agreed; I want to be able to see the colours of all of Europe, so to speak (think of the diplomap).

3 levels of zoom. At max you still can't hold the whole map in one screen, such mode would not be useful in any practical sense anyway :).

Well at least 3 is better than 2 or even 1. :)

Sure it would! It's the only way to take in the "big picture" and see who's expanding, and who's losing. You can use the "big picture" to decide which areas you want to take a closer look at.

Not this discussion again. After the much hilarity this debate caused on the EU2 forum the Admins should deliver a free ban to anybody who asks this question. And no the "bigger picture" is not useful to 99%+ of the people. The one use I found for it in EU was to move fleets over very large distances (which we don´t do anyway now) or to document world conquest (which by now is about as fun as to fart into a fire).;)

Well, it seems that when the AARs start coming in full fury after CK's release, there are going to be a lot of threads about how to connect your screenshots together to make the whole map of Europe.

The large scope map would be most useful for such a purpose...

Not asking for said map however,

make a new .jpg in paint or something like it, then copy & paste from 2 screenshots... it will take a bit of practice to make it look alright but that isn't a big deal.
