Map display

Something has happened to my map display. It was normal at first, showing territory I think, and then it went to province mode on it's own accord as far as I know, and now it's gone to shades of black...I haven't, as far as I'm aware, changed anything...and I've tried to click the buttons below the minimap to show the various map displays...but nothing changes.

Is there something I have to do to get map modes back?

I wrote the title to draw your attention to this...

Whilst I admire your attempts to keep the boards tidy, I would like to point out a couple of things...

1. I already posted this in the General Discussion forum and was told I should post in the Tech Support forum by another member because "it sounded like a problem".

2. It isn't a "gameplay" issue as far as I know...what I was saying was when I was directing air units to attack, the map goes to Province mode (prior to this action, it was in the normal "startup" mode). When I had selected a province to start bombing, the map stayed in Province mode and would not go back...nor could I select any of the other modes located underneath the mini map

So I fail to see why this has become a "gameplay" post?

Can you help me with this problem?

Yes...but when I say "black" I mean I can see everything on the map...just all the regions are a shade of black...and different shades at that.

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
4) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-3.

Just fired it up when I got home and graphics are now fine and map modes below mini map are all accessible and working?! :wacko:

That's without doing any of the things you suggest, by the way...
