Common Name(s): Novgorod, Loyalist Novgorod
Government: Republic (de Jure) Aristocratic Dictatorship (de facto)
Capital: Novgorod
Languages: Russian 80%; Altai Languages 5%; Urali Languages 10% Various Other Minor Languages 5%
Head of State: Lord-Protector Ivan Rurikovich
Head of Government: Lord-Protector Ivan Rurikovich
Population: 5.5 Million People
Religion: 85% Russian Orthodoxy 2% Protestants 2% Catholics 9% Muslims 2% Native Religions
Founding Date: 1136
Date of Max Extent: 1839
Development: Medium
Brief History: The Rus stayed under the oppression of the Mongols and the Golden Horde for a long time, but due to its Location the Republic of Novgorod was less influenced by the Mongols them some of the other states. Following the downfall of the Golden Horde, Novgorod quickly rose to dominate the Russian States and started to expand towards the east, quickly reaching the Pacific Ocean in 1798. With the upstart of the Arkhangelsk Revolution, the Situation for the Loyalists is grim, while Novgorod still holds parts of the Territory, most of the army's moral is horrible and the inner dissent is getting worse and worse. Should there not be any major changes any time soon, the Loyalist Government might crumble too. Another Danger is the Kievan Rus, claiming to be the ruler of all the Rus, which might take the Opportunity to break the Rus's current dualism between Novgorod and themselves.
Another foreign danger is Timur the Quick, having united central Asia and saying that central Asian destiny calls once again might also choose to seize land of the weakened Novgorodian state. The Koreans and the Japanese had been working on their own expansion in the far east and loosing access to the pacific ocean would be a massive strategic defeat.

Now, I have to wait for Maxwell to post before I do, correct?

I'll try again, and make a claim.

If I may state, I claim Northern India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Just stating so others can move forward with their posts.

((Since Maxwell's apparently letting his turn skip for now...))
Official Name: Catholic Republic of New France
Common Name(s): New France, New Paris, Augustin Republic
Government: Despotic Catholic Theocracy
Capital: New Paris (Cuba)
Languages: 87% French (official), 11% Spanish, 2% Other
Head of State: Archbishop Jacques Augustin
Head of Government: Archbishop Jacques Augustin
Population: 5 Million (at most)
Religion: 97% Catholic, 3% Other
Founding Date: 1761
Date of Max Extent: 1840 (Current date)
Development: Low (Medium in 'urban' areas)
Brief History:
After the English took control of England, there was much grumbling from the French population nearly straight away, particularly amongst the nobility. However, when the English split from the Catholic Church, the clergy and the peasantry joined the nobility in their desire to expel the British. After nearly 100 years of war against the Catholics in France, and the eventual bringing of order by Queen Elizabeth, the Catholics were subjugated, at least in theory. There was still much misgiving amongst the mostly-Catholic population, and particularly amongst the clergy.
When the New World was discovered, there were a number of initial attempts at fleeing from France, which was, in the eyes of many Catholics, a lost cause, but none resulted in any substance save for one, which in the winter months of 1759, and into 1760, an expedition by then-bishop Henri Baudin, successfully landed in the island that they named, “Seignur Sauve”, or “The Lord Saves”, (OTL, Cuba) and established the colony of New Paris, naming the “Catholic Republic of New France”. Since then, under the guiding of Archbishops, Henri Baudin, who is now deceased, and now, Jacques Augustin, the “Republic”, which is in effect, a dictatorship, spread onto the North American mainland, and indeed, onto the Yucatan Peninsula, most recently.
However, Jacques Augustin, is now a very old man, nearing eighty years of age, and the question remains, who is to succeed him?

((Any questions can be brought up, I am very shaky on the population, I'd like it to be more, but I do not know if that could really be possible. And I worked to make my history fit that of the Anglo-French, if there's any discrepancy, please tell me. :) ))

Didn't Cuba used to be Spanish, or is that just me misinterpreting the Spanish background?

Also, by my count, all the past claims have expired, so the claim list is currently empty.

And likewise, I'll claim.

Wiki says the population of all of US was 17 million in 1840. As a result 11 million for Cuba + Louisiana seems kind of high to me. Wiki gives Cuba's population in 1841 as 1 million. I would imagine that Louisiana may be about that much. Florida was sparcely settled until the Seminole wars. So I would guess the population to be closer to 2.5-3 million in total.

EDIT: Great way to tie into the England-France history though!

I took Cuba being uncolonized as either Spanish colonies there failed or were never really attempted, if that's the case, I can edit the history a little bit, if it's part of Spain's background.

I'll lower the population, but I'd like to keep it above 4 mil, so I think I'll keep it at 5 mil, saying 3 million for Cuba, 1 million for Flordia, 1 million for Louisiana/Alabama/Mississippi states, and only a couple thousand for the Yucatan, as it's a recent acquisition. If Flordia/Cuba are the center of the nation, then it would make sense to increase the numbers a little bit, since historically, they weren't ever really focuses for expansion by anyone. I think that if I take into account French population growth, converted natives, and Catholic immigrants from Anglo-France, that the numbers could be about 6 mil, maybe.
