Hmm, I can try a couple things, but I am basically shooting the dark. I'll first try to get a crash by just running my mod in observe mode.

How reproducible is your crash? Do you have a save file where the crash always happens by the end of the year? How long are you able to play for between crashes?

Game time varies a lot. I've tried both with Harold Godwinsson and the Emir of Seville in Stamford Bridge, both games crashed between 6 months to 5 years after start, here are both save files.

Heh, so since I don't have Conclave, I can't open those save files. Can you reproduce a crash without conclave? And also, did you get the crashes even after disabling the other mods?

Tried without Conclave, game AND PC crashed

I have no idea why that would happen, and I highly doubt that my mod would cause that - it sounds more like a hardware issue than anything. Did you only try playing without conclave once?

I'm able to play (both play and observe, and without conclave) just fine - no crashes. I'm not sure how I can help you.

i'd really love to play this mod with HIP. what would need to be done to make it compatible?

With or without SWMH?

Without SWMH it's quite simple. Add the line
Code:
dependencies = { "HIP - Historical Immersion Project" }
to TM Basic Map.mod

and delete the file 'atlas0.dds' in \TM Basic Map\map\terrain\.

Load both mods and it should work fine.

If you wanted all the SWMH provinces however, it would take quite a bit of work.

In addition to the above, you'd need to remap all the provinces in SWMH to my map (in provinces.bmp), add positions for them all (using Nudge), fix adjacencies.csv, and carefully merge the default.mod files. You'd need to fix any discrepancies with regards to the river provinces I remapped. I'm not sure if SWMH changed those provinces or not.

It's fairly straight forward (assuming you are quite familiar with map modding), but it would take many, many productive hours to do.

thanks heaps for the info. i don't use SWMH, but i'd really love to use your TM-IBM configuration with HIP. i've tried adding all new/replaced code from IBN in landed_titles.txt into the HIP landed_titles.txt, but it doesn't really seem to want to work even when i do that. what am i missing to make that work?

actually nevermind, your suggestion of adding the dependencies command totally worked and it's all good. thanks again! i've uploaded the landed_titles.txt file if anybody wants it. just replace the one in your HIP folder (as long as you're not running SWMH) with this, and delete the landed_titles.txt in the IBN folder for this to work, on top of adding the dependencies command to both IBN and TM-IBN .mod files

I notice there is a lake in southern east africa, what is the lake? I am trying to mess arround with some provinces in east africa and it would be helpful to know :)

are you talking about the lake Tana (Shewa province) ?
I don't know if the name appears with the basic version of the map but it appears with the IBL version.

No Damot province has water in the south of it.

OK, the tiny bit of water at the south border of the map. With a tooltip indicating "mare incognitum".
Given the alignment of the lake with the Somalia coast line and Socotra island, it should be either Koka lake or Ziway lake, in Ethiopia... I guess
If these lakes are too small to be represented in CK2, then the Abaya lake is a valid alternative. Lake Lurkana (Kenya) seem a bit too far from the Somalia coastline.

That'd be Lake Abaya.

It's Abaya. I think my reasoning for removing the smaller lakes above Abaya were
a) they were pretty small and
b) they'd be wholly contained in one land province.

This, combined with Elvain's mod, is pretty amazing. It's certainly the best combination of map mods I've had the pleasure of using. I look forwards to seeing the third version you mention!

Any news about the mod?
News about what? Updates? I don't think I need to update my basic version (I don't think paradox changed the vanilla map at all), but I should update the Ibn Battuta version - I'll see about doing that in December.

EDIT: I see that you had issues in June. Does it still not work for you? Which version of my mod are you using? I don't have Conclave still, so I can't fix the Conclave world sprites.
