Hang on it's just the Provinces that are too dark.

Here is a picture to show what I mean. The Gold looking provinces are suppose to be bright yellow:

probably the normal map
Confirmed. I made the normal map too large. After putting it in 3072x3072 it fixed it. so don't go above 3072 X 3072 if you're making your own map.

Hit a bit of a rump.

Can anyone name a few possible reasons for my crash. When the mod crashes it says initialising maplogic, so the cause is either that or the next one after that, loading databases.

I will rule out a few things:
- Last time we checked there were no stray pixels
- I have to my knowledge fixed the region --> island region + geographical region thing
- I got plenty of flags (the mapfiller used the one that it wanted and threw the others into the other folder)
- The mod crashes whether I include few vanilla landed titles and flags necessary for some vanilla events or not (e_rebels, e_pirates, k_papal_state, k_orthodox, e_sunni, e_shiite, d_sunni, d_shiite, e_golden_horde, e_il-khanate, e_mongol_empire, e_chagatai and e_timurids)

What I can think of that might be wrong:
- I forgot an ð in my provincedef, Jonstrykers mapfilling excel file, but the mapfiller ran and turned it into a dh, in the landed titles, in the flag folder and definition, so I think its ok
- I got a few one pixel islands, which are a part of neighbouring provinces, close to the shore
- I haven't rechecked recently whether the colors are absolutely 100% all correct in my provincedef file, will do so soon
- Thanks to Greenland I got many fjords that close off due to the low resolution of the original picture. These pseudo lakes have the color of the sea next to it.

Anything else I should add to my checklist ?

Hm ...
- The ð really shouldn't be a problem if handled that way
- One pixel islands normally look weird but do not break the game
- If colors are not 100% ok than there's the possibility that some provinces can't be used ingame. But the game should still load up normally.
- fjords? Maybe. No idea.

Other things:
technology, trade routes, tons of other text files that can break the game

Thanks for the answer.

Technology might be the problem :). Remember being iffy on that. As for trade I didn't add any trade routes, so I am safe on that front ?

Edit: Yeah technology was set to 2000 and 2800, well above my start date (930). After fixing that it got much further (the first loading graphics I think) but didn't get that far on reruns. Thanks man :). Its late, will work on this more tomorrow.

After editing terrain.bmp, my game crashes upon "loading databases". I checked at least thrice and I'm sure I used the correct RGB codes. Was unable to detect the error - do you have any idea what else could have gone wrong?

terrain.bmp has to be indexed, did you save it with the proper index after editing?

Sounds right (haven't done it myself.) You need to make sure you're using the same custom palette as vanilla's terrain.bmp.

Thanks to richvh I fixed the crashes. However, while in terrain map mode the map is extremely dark (the problem Supeerme had, only the lighting is fine in other map modes). The normal map does not exceed the size limit (also didn't edit it in any way.) Any ideas?

EDIT: Is fixed, forgot to save Colormap in indexed mode...

However, I now edited the texture files (atlas0 and the normal map) and the game crashes upon loading databases. Tried both indexed and RGB mode, both RGBA8 and RGB8... to no avail. Didn't resize the pictures.

I keep getting these errors in the character select screen with my custom map. Some province names are missing, and others are doubled up. The errors go away when the game properly starts, but the fact they are happening makes things look bad.

Would anyone be willing to take a look at my mod files? I have been working all day and I am unable to play the game. CK II crashes with the Initializing Map Logic error.

I have checked for stray pixels, and there are none. I have saved the map files in BMP format (without color information, indexed, in 24 8 8 8), and they are ok...

I don't know where to begin, as error.log is extremely brief:

Error.log:
[texturehandler.cpp:191]: Couldn't find texture file: launcher/common/gfx/interface/transp_black.dds.
[virtualfilesystem.cpp:680]: Could not open file: , error: El sistema no puede encontrar la ruta especificada.

My system uses Windows 10, in Spanish, but I play CKII in English and I have never had any problems with any of the DLCs.

Ok, I cannot upload my mod either in RAR or in ZIP. It is 15 Mbs... is it too big?
