Two questions to be precise, although the answer for the first one may be found if I would try to read through all the relevant threads :p

1. Does maps work in moddir, that is does the game recoqnize the map if it is in that directory? (And are there any differences between plain 1.08 and the betas in this regard)

2. I have made a fantasy world which I think would be suitable as an EU2 scenario (have enough countries that's for sure, slightly more than 100 IIRC at the time this scenario would start and that is not counting various more or less tribal countries and minorc city-states that can't be represented by natives, and I also have a fairly good outline of the history for a period of 500 years). So is there any mapmaker that would be willing to try make the map?

Currently the maps do not work with moddir.

Not volunteering myself either, since I have already 2 maps-to-make pending (for MES and my own 'fantasy' scenario) while I'm still doing minor updates to my watk map, but it might help your cause (or at least generate some more posts) to actually give more specific information on what you want. I.e. screens of what you want for all of us visual people out here ;)

Dear Mapmakers
where i can find the tools to make a map?

To which one should add that there you can find tools to export the current map to a format that can be editted, and import it back to the game. To actually *make* a map, all you need is a good graphical editor, like photoshop (commonly used by mapmakers in this community as it seems ;)).

Here is a very small part of it.

Too bad I don't have Photoshop or any other good graphical editors (just Paint and something else that came with the computer).

May look at that.

Regardless I will make this last try to attempt to get someone else interested, first by what I had planned to do, if someone would be interested in making the map, then by giving you the Kamashta Empire.

Instead of just more or less wait until the map was ready, I would do tag allocation, country descriptions, monarchs, leaders, dp-settings, a few events, that is as much as possible that can be done without needing the map.

Kamashta Empire at the time the Scenario would start

Of the outher countries outlined in that picture Khessi is a vassal to Kamashta. Kamashta became the regions most powerful country after its victory over Timesh in the battle of Kafhaza, and Kamashta dominance lasted for about 100 years until its defeat in the battle of Dahuwa, from where things went downhill.

I too have a fantasy scenario that im working on, the map I made since I cant shade EU2 style provinces i shaded Victoria style provinces the only hard thing about making a map is getting the tools to work if you want i can describe them to you in a series of private messages just pm me

also you need photoshop i believe you can dowload a trial copy

Alright. So if I create a map in, say Photoshop (or Paint though it's ugly),
1) how do I import it to the game directories (and how do I export the current map to edit it?) - and does it automatically replace the old map?
2) how do I define the province borders?
3) how do I define the province id, do I simply enter the data into province.csv?

See, I don't understand how to link the graphic image in Photoshop or Paint or anything to data that the game can read. I can learn about the most difficult aspects of life and reality in no time, but when dealing with computers I am a complete wanker. I should have been born in the Middle Ages.
Anyway, Thanks for all your help to us amateurs.

Cheers, Jan Hus.

to export the map open up the command prompt and type in mextract/? to view all your options. for me I use mextract /D:mynewmap mynewmap

/D:mynewmap is the folder in the same directory as mextract that i want to extract my map from. It should include the map folder and the db folder. mynewmap is the .eu2map file the program saves it as in the intermediate format. To extract the map into photoshop then you open up the command prompt and type in "mimage/E /r:full mynewmap mynewpsd" the program then takes the whole map as specified by the /r:full command and creates a psd file with 3 layers called mynewpsd.psd. The first layer is shading ie the apearance ingame of the map, the second is the red province borders and the third is the id layer expressed in RGB colours. Each province has its own unique colour. to import the map back into the intermediate format you type in the command prompt "mimage/I mynewpsd mynewmap" so that mimage imports the mynewpsd.psd file into the mynewmap.eu2map file. then from there you type in the command prompt "minject /D:mynewmap mynewmap" this command tells the program to insert mynewmap.eu2map into the folder mynewmap and saves them as the tbl files. Load up the game and your new map awaits

I hope that helped

can you post the whole map? i might be able to shade that for you or put it into a nice eu2mapfile if you like

Nice fantasy stuff there. :p
