On RIMP: Did RIMP stop because of the memory issues or the team issue?

It was a multitude of things but more than anything it was the release of HOI3 :)

I personally was (and am) holding off due to the patches still being a work in progress... and with a new expansion suddenly in the realm of possibility... well a lot of work has been wasted in the past when new versions of the game changed everything.

Do you know whether the memory issue was the game slowing down or the map not compiling?

Both actually. It will slow down (especially when you add new countries) to a point and then it will stop compiling all together.

Based on the fact the some people seem to hit this wall sooner than others (and need to download pre-generated textures separately) suggests that it is system dependent.

Marvelous work. Very impressive.

Thanks mate.

Looks amazing, Hardradi! Great job!

Maybe the map could go even beyond the Indus, so that the Indo-Greek campaigns against the Indian kingdoms could be simulated

Thanks again.

There is enough room in the "black stuff" to fit them in as long as the map keeps compiling. A whole new world of little kingdoms I dont know anything about. Do you know of any good books on these kingdoms?

I was checking the memory last night while the map was compiling. RAM wise I am just over 50% while its compiling and I have 6gig. I can also go to 12 gig if I have to. So it doesnt seem to be a problem.

My dilemma is the amount of work I have created. I think I am going to stop and get the mod out as it currently stands before I proceed further.

It gives a nice overview of the situation. The chronologies are especially good. Useful maps can be downloaded from here

I can only speak for the early modern maps but the 1400 one is quite inaccurate for India. The one for 1500 is better but still has some big errors.

For you maybe ;)

How many of your players field that kind of hardware? :D

Good point. :eek:o

Smith's classic The Early History of India is available for free at archive.org. It gives a nice overview of the situation. The chronologies are especially good. Useful maps can be downloaded from here

Thanks for the links. I love those world history maps. With all the modding I have been doing I keep help that guy out a bit with a few nations.

I have a copy of Barrington Atlas, which has a nice overview map of India, so when I get to it (hopefully) I have a pretty good reference for cities and tribes.

Last night I put the Mauryan Empire into the map. The Parthians/Parni are in the north.
