Some general questions on maps.

Are there going to be various sizes or basically all the same general size?

Will the maps be random generated or pre-made or both?

Environments: outside, inside (buildings, caves, etc), mix?

Will it be possible for players to create game maps?

I'm guessing about the same general size for all maps. Possibly we might make smaller map/maps made for fewer players then 12 if that is something players want to have. We haven't started producing too many maps yet... And I don't think we will. Instead we want to keep it down to a few number of well thought and worked through maps.

The environments are outdoors on different planet surfaces :)

And no. There will most likely not be a map editor included since we're building the maps in the actual game engine.

I realize this way (way) early for these types of questions
. . . But . . .
Would there be releases of new maps every so often? So that players can have something new to play on?

Or am I simply missing the focus here?

That it won’t matter if a map is overly known by all the players, because the challenge is in the forces put together and how they are deployed during play that will matter.
;)

It is possible that we release more maps after the initial release of the game. A bit too early to make any official statements though, as you might have suspected :)

Different maps will of course result in different experiences because different tactics and strategies will be used differently depending on how the level is designed. And distances to points of interest and the other teams base matters a lot in how mobile you want your units to be etc.
