I've indirectly absorbed more history playing and reading around strategy games than I ever did at school.

That is probably because you spent more time with strategy games than studying history in school.:D

If they made history class as enjoyable as EU2 then many of us would have gotten better grades.:)

I'd be happy to the CK come out, low on bugs, by Christmas 2003. A game with this potential deserves not to get ruined by rushing it.

I agree. They can take all the time they want. I ruined last summer with EU2, don't want to ruin another... ;)

I don't know about history - but many years of playing board games and strategic computer games have certainly improved my knowledge of geography!

Back to release date: The Polish agent (cdprojekt) writes on its web page:

Europa Universalis: Mroczne Wieki - Data premiery: 9 kwietnia 2002, -

which translates to

Europa Universalis: Dark Ages - Premier date - 9th April 2002,

so unless they mean another game (translation and game naming is not their best point) it should be out soon (or they messed up again) :/

So true. Even in EU2 (where we know the geography is not exact) I have learned quite a bit of geography or at least names for some general geographic areas.:)

Dark Ages? :p I though that was a few centuries earlier...

Someone really should inform the Polish publisher that "Dark Ages"= early Middle Ages (Fall of Rome to 11th century) and that CK is set in the later Middle Ages.

And that the game probably has more than 2 months left in development given that the beta hasn't started yet.

And the year is 2002...I don't think that it has been out for almost a year ;)

Somebody is pulling someone's leg...;) :D

well it does say 2002 on their page, so I thought that they made a mistake with the year when they updated it (I find myself sometimes write 2002 also). So that i "forgave" them - though the month should be correct - I hope they update their web pages at least more than once a year :D :D :D

.. anyways hope it comes out soon..

(just to prove it
http://www.cdprojekt.info/wszystko_o_grze.asp?action=ShowGame&gid=295 )

Okay and the thing is that they write that it's out for sale - so did I miss a title or is that supposed to be the I EU (I though that the premier of EU I was earlier) or what they heck is going on???

Actually, I took a 20th Century History class where we got to play historical strategy board games. For instace, for pre-WWI we played Diplomacy. I always liked history, even the more mundane writing essays and doing research, but the board games really broke the monotony.

I also agree with Endre Fodstad; Snowball and Paradox: please take your time to make it a good game on first release. :)

Definately agree hoho!:D

wadda you know it seems that somebody in Parodox told cd projekt to update the web page or the chaps themselves also view these boards - now the page reads:

Data premiery: dalej w 2003

which means

premier date: further/later in 2003

how nice - these boards rule! :>
