In Game Rules Section

  • If you wish to join, you must post here and get ICQ
  • We will start the game at the scheduled time with the players that show, if you are going to be late or can’t make it, send an ICQ or post here. We can stop the game and rehost to pick up late players. A player is responsible for finding their own Sub.
  • If you attack a country, you must have roleplay reason for it, and it must be publicly stated. It doesn't have to be a good reason; "He laughed when my horse stumbled at my recent tournament" will do. But some kind of reasoning is needed. Also, you'll probably find it easier to garner support for an attack on a player country if your reason has some kind of ingame relevance.
  • If a war starts and allies are called, where any ally that was a player country but that player is not present and their country is AI’d, it is ok to call on them to join.
  • Gentlemanly conduct is required at all times. You are certainly permitted to ravage another player's kingdom, carry off his daughters and his treasure, kill his armies, and force him to sign a humiliating peace; but be polite about it. No swearing, no name-calling.
  • No diplomacy with the country of a player who isn't present - this is less important in CK, of course, with its limited diplomatic options. Also, no DOWing an AI'd player country; if it DOWs you, you can defend yourself and take a province or two, but no total rapings. However, a player who is often absent may find the rest of us not enforcing this rule any too strenuously.
  • You cannot grab a Duke or King title from an excommunicated ruler; this is to avoid gaminess where the Papal Controller excommunicates someone purely for the purpose of getting claims. You are permitted to grab a claim, to any title, from someone who isn't excommunicated; if you have that much prestige, some nice King claims are your natural reward. Also note that you can grab as many Count titles as you care to, even from an excommunicated ruler, and you can always usurp a title.
  • Avoid AFKs. By Murphy's Law, we will always crash in the middle of one, and then the rest of us are stuck waiting for our one AFK player. If it's something really unavoidable, ok, but at least give notice, and be prepared to find we've crashed and gone on without you. And AFKs of the style "watching the TV in the other room at the same time" is really a bit rude. We're here to play, not wait while you watch TV.
  • We must play the game every week, regardless of who shows up. If you know you can't make it, you must find a sub. If you can’t find a sub your country will be controlled by the AI.
  • Upon starting a player versus player war, the aggressor must state their war goals. This is necessary so all players will understand what the attacker is looking for and what the defender must consider to end the hostilities. For example; As the Duke of Apulia I demand that Sicily surrender the county of Trapani and recognize Apulia as their new ruler . During the conflict both sides can negotiate these demands.
  • During player versus player wars, no side can take lands from their opponents realm without first controlling the opponents demesne counties.
  • Pagans and Muslims: All Pagans and Muslims in Europe, Russia, and traditional Christian Areas(Byzantine Anatolia) are fair game. North Africa, Egypt, and the Levant can only be attacked through a crusade up till 1250, then it is all fair game. Just for a further clarification, if the Pope declares a crusade against Jerusalem, Jerusalem as well as all the provinces surrounding it would be considered fair game.
  • Pagans and Muslims: You may only DOW a pagan or Muslim once in each ruler's lifetime, or twice if he has the Crusader trait. The exception is that you may always DOW the Crusade target. This does require a certain amount of keeping track, so it's helpful if each player says "I've got a new King", "I'm using my pagan DOW", "I'm using my pagan DOW from the Crusader trait" or "I'm DOWing the Crusade target", as the case may be, and the GM writes things down.
  • Taking Christian Provinces during war: As the aggressor you must have a claim on the land to take it. You cant take more than 1 province every 10 years, as the aggressor. If you're DOW'd you can take 2 provinces from the aggressor, the demesne rule applies. It's important that everyone understand clearly that there's no safety net: Your nation can be destroyed, it is possible to lose this game.

Above all, be cheerful! Nobody is out to get you. Your lands, yes, your daughters if they are hot, your treasury, certainly. But it's nothing personal! We just want to reduce you to vassalage, so your children will be servants of our children forever. Smile, and hide that dagger.

AAR REWARDS

Thinking about bonuses,

For example: when players show up on time for games, posting AARs... what do ya'll think. Maybe money or other perks as rewards. Let me know.
 
A few questions for you:

- How long are the sessions going to go for?
- What EU are you going to convert to after CK? (I prefer EU3(IN) personally)
-Are you going to have any muslim/pagan bashing rules as this can make a huge difference on player power depending on start regions?

Not certain I will have the time to pick up a second game like this but I am interested in joining if I can. If not I will make my self available as a sub most likely when the game gets going as experience in CK mp has shown that its hard to keep players at times :).

Was snooping around and found this nice little rule posted by Ccbasin regarding Muslims and Pagans. Seems like a logical rule. I will add more rules for you all to look over as I find them. Again if you have any you would like to see or disagree with any I've proposed please let me know.

I've been looking at past MP games for any ideas regarding AAR rewards. I think it would be fair to receive rewards for how much of an AAR you write as well as how well it was written.

These are just suggestions and can be debated. My idea is to reward the players for their hard work and imagination as well as give the community a way of sharing in our experience. Yes, I'm Norway in "And Rumours of War", a megacampaign. We've finished CK and are in 1690, playing EU3. There's an AAR thread over in the EU3 section if you're interested. :)

Some rule suggestions compliments of KoM.

Regarding Muslims and Pegans:

I'm afraid the CK MP community isn't what it was, Trav. Also, around 80% of it is currently playing in AROW, so that cuts down even further on potential players. Try over at Ederon, though, you may get some recruits there.
 
Unfortunately it doesn't look like I will have the time at the moment. As I stated above though when you get things going if you need a sub just let me know and I will do what I can :).

Best of luck finding players and I plan to keep tabs on this so hopefully a aar will come out of it for me to read :).
