Hi,
When looking for a partner for your family to marry them to, you will most likely search for people with high stats. Mostly high stewardship.
And because that information is not hidden, and if you search long enough or use the weddingmaker you will always find one. So most marriages are not for dynastical reasons but just looking for a good male/female with high stats. Of course in the real middle ages it didn't go that way. The emperor of Byzantium would never marry his son to a courtier of the count of Orkney. At least I don't think it ever happend. He would be looking in courts of his princes or other kings.
So my suggestions would be.
1. Keep the stats hidden. It ads some excitement to the game I think. Or if that is not possible don't give exact number but a hint of what his or her qualities are.
2. Lose prestige if you marry under your social standing.
The last one has been suggested before
