Hey,

I’ve been thinking, something that would add greatly to the game (for me personally) would be to have global policies that you can change and select based on your management style.

for example one such policy would be a Youth Priority policy; when children leave school or ‘no spec’ youths arrive on Mars, should the priority be for them to go to university or to fill vacant work slots or to fill vacant university slot?

another would be renegade punishment; yes in theory a good security force should control renegades, but as a commander, I’d like to have control over what happens to them, is my policy to let them remain in society, or force them into education or some kind of rehabilitation.

i understand there’s a fine line between having a good amount of management options, and having too many management options. But I feel like the loyal SM players amongst us are probably ready to have greater control over policy in our colonies?

thoughts?

If we are talking about renegates, the entire mechanic should be rebuilt and add more detail. For example it would be cool if we would have a drug epidemic in our cities if we don't pay enough attention or a serial killer running about. also a number of punishments, including the death penalty.

I would personally hope for a DLC down the line that adds more ways to structure the Martian society (and introduces things like family units, which are sadly absent from the game atm). Especially with Vicky 3 coming out and it being described as a 'society simulator'..! :)

I feel like this is something you should unlock once your colony reaches a certain size (in terms of the number of colonists specifically I mean)?
I guess it could be unlocked through technology, but I feel like it'd make more sense (and feel more natural) to tie it to population. Fluff wise it'd be around the point where your colony is big enough that not every colonist knows every other colonist, so need to resort to more formal social rules. Mechanically it'd be the point where your colony is big enough to warrant it.
