I have multiple industrial areas in this city, but this one (Center left of image) seems to be putting out way more pollution than it should. This area only has some coal and ore mines and regular industrial zoning. There are bigger industrial areas elsewhere on the map that don't produce this kind of pollution. Even the coal power plant doesn't seem to produce as much, (You can see it towards the top right corner of the image) although it's very near the edge so the air pollution gets cut off.

I'm not really looking for a solution though one would be welcome. Just wanting others' opinions if this is a bug or not. Or if there is a legitimate cause forthis amount of pollution that I could be overlooking.

For me it looks like the buildings on the specialized ore industry are pollution sources. I don't know if it would be enough to disable the specialized industry for a while or if you've to destroy it to see if this is true.

The pollution itself looks like it comes in waves, but it's hard to see if it's because of your terrain - does your terrain have "dunes"? If yes, I could imagine that the pollution concentrates on one dune, swapping over to the next one and also concentrates, etc. If not, maybe you should make a bug report so that CO can help to clarify if it's a "feature" or not :D
