The game I'm playing is freezing on May 30, 1150.

I have the North American version with the 1.04a patch

Well the VIA drivers scare me since they are known to be bugged.
Sounds like your save was corrupted.

Does the autosave or old autosave allow you to play past that date?

I don't have an autosave for that game, but I loaded a save from a few months before and it works fine. Thank you for helping me out.

Turn autosave on.
That way you are always sure of two recent backups.
