Basically I had the idea of making a sort of a "tutorial" nation for EU2. One that would start far away from the European wars and have time to learn the ropes at its leisure. One which would still get a decent tech speed, a decent economy, and good diplomatic opportunities. One which get plenty of space to colonize, have decent monarchs, and the occasional explorer or conquistador too.

And more importantly, one which would _not_ suddenly get hit by destructive events which reduce their whole empire to a smoking pile of ashes. (A la the breakdown of China in EU2.)

You get the idea: almost a cheat. It is _not _ intended as a challenge for experienced players. (Yes, those who can conquer the world as Trabzond need not apply :D ) Those would probably just find it terminally boring. It is basically a sandbox where new players could enjoy a demi-god-mode game, until they're ready to tackle the real game.

The first thought for it (as an IGC fan) was IGC's version of Vinland. It's Catholic, it's latin, it has good relationships with the three Scandinavian nations, and plenty of space to colonize. (And it's got Vikings :D )

It would get new (purely randomly generated) monarchs and leaders, though, since I have a much larger time frame to cover with them.

Yes, I know there already is a Vinland mod. But, well, that one seems to be aimed more at being challenging and balanced, rather than the sandbox I have in mind. It also seems to be event driven, which is not quite what a sandbox is all about. Basically, I'm not really intending to compete with it.

Of course, I could alternately just grab my own province IDs and make my own phantasy country from scratch. It's not even that hard. But, well, I'm sorta fond of Vinland for some weird reason.

So, if any of the fine authors of the original IGC country are reading this: may I?

I dont even know if dommdark and hartmann still even post here.

Regarding Vinland ~ I already created a scenario for EU2 which has been recently re-released by czajna. You can read the latest changes here...

You would probably need to edit the scenario slightly to change the religon. This scenario has been included on the Crown of the North release as well :)

Hartmann's still around, I think, but on the German forums. Doomdark is pretty much gone.

Nah, giving them the top tech is actually a bad idea, IMHO. It basically elliminates some of the rewards for the player. Some of us actually like those pop-ups that we've researched another level.

Other than that, well, I see you understand what I have in mind :)

Sorta not sure what semi-historical excuse would I have for giving the Aztecs either catholic religion or higher tech, though.

I mean, with Vinland it was very easy to imagine a twist where Denmark actually actively colonizes it and eventually makes it a vasal. (Basically it would start Catholic, latin, scandinavian culture, same tech levels as Denmark, and a vassal and ally of Denmark, as part of the Kalmar Union.)

Not entirely historically accurate, nor 100% believable, but an easy to swallow alternate history scenario nevertheless. Sorta the thing you could swallow if you were reading it in a novel.

If you have any idea what other such alternate history colony I could use instead, I would appreciate a suggestion.
