You mentioned some other good points in your post but I would like to single out this line because this is exactly what it's feeling like now. I have played both CKII and EUIV and after a while, the DLC just feels forced. Superficial and shallow changes for 20$. It's really feeling like it's a change for DLC's sake just to perpetuate itself. I read the Dev Diaries and I'm just disappointed at how uninspiring they are. New corruption mechanic! Here's a slider to throw money at it to avoid being punished by it! I'm simplifying it but that's the feeling.
