So how come during Robert's Rebellion, all the rebels group their armies together, while Dorne and the Reach and Aerys kind of run around like chickens with their heads cut off? Oswell Whent did me a favor and killed Aerys so I inherit as Rhaegar, and it's just not winnable. Tywin even joined and goes off to siege some random keep west of Riverrun.

The AI is rubbish, not much we can do about that I'm afraid :)

However, we have rebalanced robert's rebellion somewhat for the next version, so hopefully it is a bit more even.

Yeah I didn't figure it was you guys. I wonder if it has to do with King's Landing being more valuable than any one location for the rebels? Their armies flock to KL because it's a high value target, while the loyalist armies chase Robert Baratheon (even if he has 12 men) across the Stormlands while ignoring the massive rebel armies further north.

I managed to win as Rhaegar with an early assassination of Aerys. This left me with around 20,000 men. I find that Dorne takes an eternity to send its troops, but the Reach sends them relatively quickly and attach themselves to me in most of my games. You can crush Robert fairly easily this way. I actually had Tywin Lannister join the rebels in that game too for some reason (no one married Cersei.) Still, the rebels didn't group up very well and were crushed handily. Lure them into river crossing battles as much as possible to minimize casualties. Don't attack them when they have terrain bonuses. Just make sure that you deal with them before they can form a doomstack on you.
