After upgrading to 1.04 I've seen a number of crashes. The system will hang about 5 minutes into the game (clock stops moving), after 30-60 seconds there is disk activity, then a Windows error message about being low on virtual memory followed by a game CTD.
I installed Cacheman but didn't see any improvement other than getting a nice graph of the problem
System is Athlon 1.3GHz with 896 MB of RAM on an Asus motherboard, running Windows 2000 with SP2. Only background app is a firewall. Problem only started with 1.04 IIRC. Problem has also been seen with 1.04 on a laptop (IBM Thinkpad T22, Windows 2000 with SP2, 512MB RAM, no background apps).
I've seen crashes after a full uninstall (uninstall, then delete HOI directory structure) followed by installing HOI NA version + 1.04 NA patch, no mods. However this particular problem is currently seen with some mod files installed. While I can remove those I would prefer to keep them![Wink ;) ;)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? I'll get latest nVidia Ti4600 video drivers and reinstall DirectX 8.1 but haven't got much hope that it will change anything. Did something change with 1.04 that could affect RAM usage?
