Seems to have been broken down into two separate pieces.

On one hand, you have the decision based pop-ups that work beautifully and are really nice and I feel like I couldn't ask for anything more.

On the other hand, you have the sidebar where things just kind of "happen" and your only notification that something has occurred is that the basically invisible (compared to the urgency of what is going on elsewhere on screen) little number ticks up as you accumulate notifications, most of which are useless. HOWEVER, some of them are really important, and go sorely missed until they're too late.

Please bring back the notification modification system that is present in the EU games (having the ability to modify which messages you are alerted to in the manner of "pause and pop-up", "pop-up", "display in invisible ticker sidebar you'll never actually check", and "don't display".

I've gotten screwed over in multiple ways because something that should have set off bells and whistles and paused my game and slapped a big old pop-up saying "YO! DUDE! THIS NEEDS YOUR ATTENTION!" went completely unannounced and completely unnoticed in that sidebar while I was doing things that I thought were more important.

The worst happened to be that I was declared war on and the game didn't bother to inform me in any meaningful way. By the time I realized what was happening, I'd lost two provinces from the rear of my territory completely and one of my two personal holdings was under siege by a force that I couldn't hope to repel with what I could levy/recruit from my single remaining province.

This is a game-altering problem that needs attention.

All of which has already been said several times now.
We hope for it to be fixed in the game proper when it comes out.

such as this?:

Insufficient.

"Priority 1 messages will pause the game and show up in the high priority tab."

If it isn't broken, don't fix it. The tabs idea is a really bad one. The way they handled notifications in EU3 was much better.

If it isn't pausing the game and literally popping up a message like the game-choice events then it's not doing it's job. I'm sure more than a handful of people would just go "..why'd my game just pause?" without even thinking of looking at those out of the way tabs and just unpause and keep on going.

User interface is the single most important part of any game. If that fails, the whole game runs into problems. Don't make excuses for it. Try to help make it better!

yeah i agree..

it should be:

1. popup with pause
2. high priority tab w/o pause
3. text area in the bottom just like in eu3
4. no message at all

low priority tab is useless..

but anyway i got used to this interface already.. only problem is that i would like game to pause then my masters return to court...

1st Post...

I have some sympathy, but can handle the message system. What I have REAL / HUGE / MASSIVE problems with is offers of "exchanging hostages" and "plot invitation". Blink and you'll miss them on higher speeds (cause the duration they stay on screen can be very short) and the icons are down in the bottom corner. I didn't spot them till my second or third playthrough of the demo...

I have MISSED 30 or 40 important offers... and there is no pause function when an offer arrives, and no sound announcing them. It's really annoying.

Please put them somewhere obvious - top of screen where ninja / deficit / ronin icons appear, and add a sound or something and maybe an option to pause on receiving a "hostage offer" or "plot offer"... as that message alert options menu does not mention offers (I think). What makes it more annoying is when I go to the character who sent the offer that I missed and ask for it again... THEY REJECT... so the offers are even more important..!

Please!!!!

Finding a few typos etc in menus and pop-ups and tooltips etc.. but...

Other than that, loving the demo. Brilliant fun!
Smooth, full of intigue and strategy. Pre-ordered it today, now gotta wait three days. Does it go live for download from GGate at midnight on the 13th or sometime during the day...?
