I have come to accept that most "bugs" and errors or crashes in games are due to this Alzheimer's laptop of mine. XD I had some kind of virus recently, like the third one on this machine, and had to install Win10. Xp It certainly must be my side of things.

My recommendation if it is really such an old machine:
# use Win 7 (older OS like Vista are worse, newer ones too big for your computer)
# do not use Anti-Virus-programs (much too big a strain on your system, if you really need one, Window's own defender AV is probably the one your system will be slowed down the least by)
# perhaps up your RAM to 8 GB (usually very cheap for old systems when done with 2x4GB but you should check first wether your computer has 2 or only 1 RAM slot)
