My alliance of Peru (me), Brazil, France, and the Ottoman Empire are at war against Columbia, Argentina, Chile, and Venezuela. Columbia (alliance leader) offers me (not leader) peace which include several provinces. I accept. War’s over for me.

My only ally at that point is Brazil. I’ve cultivated France for a LONG time so I immediately offer them an alliance. They accept and I’m back in the war and still have my provinces from Columbia.

Shortly afterwards Chile offers me a separate peace, again with provinces. I accept but Chile continues to attack me even though I’m no longer at war with them (all my alliance partners still are).

What gives?

Need a save after the final peace please

Send to victoria dot bugs at btinternet dot com

A little dense here. Do you mean final FINAL peace (after the entire war) or after the first peace, or after peace with Chile. I think I have saves at those points.

After the second peace with Chile (when you should be at peace but they are attacking you or your provinces)

I’ll send you something.

There’s two issues here. 1. Is making a separate peace (and getting provinces) then rejoining the alliance supposed to insert you back into the original war? Is this WAD? Potential exploit if so.

2. As to Chile still fighting, I suppose it’s possible that Chile could have remained allied with at least one alliance partner and then lent divisions to that partner. Possible?

In a later war in this same game, Otto dishonored our alliance by refusing to declare war on Argentina but then lent ME several divisions. Is this WAD?

1. Is it WAD - I guess so. Is it right - IMHO no. Is it an exploit - I think so. The proper solution would be to count it as a broken treaty. Which would mean the AI would not do it. And players wouldn't usually.

2. It is possible that Chile may have lent divisions to other combattants - yes. AI sending their divisions to friendly but not allied countries is relatively common - I see it sometime in most games. So WAD I think
