OK, I don't see anything indicating a problem there. Let's try a complete reinstall; move any valued saves elsewhere and uninstall the game. Now manually delete the game directory (this is vital). Install the game again, but don't use the suggested path c:\program files\paradox ... etc, instead use a new path outside the system directories such as c:\games\rome or whatever. Then apply patch 1.2.

I have those drivers. It runs but its totally glitchy, like as if it were getting a really bad frame rate, and when I got to scroll across the landscape it jumps halfway across europe.

But again: you did as I suggested and installed in a directory other than the suggested one of c:\program files\paradox etc ? If so, well, I'm really not sure what to suggest. Can we see your new settings.txt one more time pls?

Yup. It's in C:/Games/Rome

OK, try these settings:

fullScreen=no

multisampling=0

mapRenderingOptions={
renderTrees=no

and see if that helps at all.

Well I'm out of ideas. Maybe it's a bad CD or something. Do you have a different machine around to try it on?

Or a different gfx card?

Or a more generalized PC error seach, try

Testing you memory on a hot day.
find, download and run memtest86

Testing if your temperatures are too high
find, download and run speedfan
*** Careful with any settings in this program to not damage you PC ***

Same thing...

I have same proplem and my hardware is enough to run Eu: Rome. I have Amd Athlon 3200(2,1 ghz i think), 1512 mt ram, and videocard something over 250 mb. Same thing in Eu III, but i can still play it, but in Rome it is just lagging. :eek:

Have you tried to change the settings for your gfx card, f.ex. on my NVidia card i can go to "Performance and Quality Settings"

There I can make a new profile called "Rome"
Then I browse to find the RomeGame.exe and chose it as my application.

Now I can change the settings for Rome, just to test I check the Anti alias and Anisotropic filtering and for each uncheck the apllication controlled box and set them both to off, I now see that the value beside each is "Off".

It seems like I get a better gfx performance and the cpu performance is same as before.

Yes, I get the same problem with the EUIII demo, but say I go to play a game and it's like that all I have to do is resign and start a new game - then everythign is nice and smooth.

Wow after hours of searching and trying various suggestions, this is the only solution that worked for me... one from a year ago. Doing a resign and start new game makes my pc run smooth as silk at 1920x1200 all settings maxed.
