They can be combined -let a powerful catholic nation (or the papacy) have an event (at 1550 or whatever deathdate chosen) that kills them, then let most majors have an event that triggers after pope-event if they are catholics when they get to decide upon dismantling the order (+ 1 tax in two provinces, -1 stab, +2 RR for 12 months and 200 cash) or incorporating the order (+1 aristo, +1 quality, + 5000 cavalry, -50 relations with pope)

Hmm, sounds like a plan, well who shall be our bad guy?:D

Actually, since we don't have any certfied major I'd suggest the pope, then whether the papacy exists (and can get the event) or not then catholic majors in france, in the orient and in british isles get events allowing them to decide what to do.

And the pope's event has flavor along the lines of:

As reformation had hurt papal authority the pope looked to regain it. The knights templar and their mercantile ways had long been a grain in the eyes of the church, but when they turned to open usury their bribes could no longer help them.

action_a - Revoke their charter
+1 tax in rome #No longer exempt from taxes

action_b - Revoke the charter and sieze their assets
+2 tax in rome, +200 cash, -2 stability, revolt in rome.

Possibly triggering events for other powers, strongest bases being in Burgundy, Savoy and Brittany..
