In my current game as Russia I am allied with Austria. Turkey DoWed them and Crimea joined. I honored the alliance and fought a hectic war with meager forces. I persevered and finally occupied all Crimean provinces. (Having their capital I switched to the political map and checked areas where Turkey had conquered for those annoying "stray" Crimean conquests.) I had all of their provinces!

I went to offer peace and was not offered the option to annex. Is that because I was fighting what amounted to a defensive war? Do you have to declare in order to militarily annex the entire country?

Hmmm, that's odd. I have annexed militarily in the manner you described. Normally if, for example, Crimea feels big brother Turkey can defend them they will turn down an "offer" of annexation, but I've never seen it not listed as an option.

Are you the leader of your alliance? Does that matter?

Sorry I couldn't answer totally, but it doesn't seem like you did anything wrong. :)

I'm the leader of the alliance in terms of being the one who excercised the "Create Alliance" option. The only thing I can figure is that there's a "stray" out there that they conquered in one of Turkey's wars. Playing as Turkey I've noticed that they will join a war, siege a province, annex in a seperate peace and give no thought to how they might defend the province in the future. I sure didn't see it if it was out there though.

In this case for this war Austria is the leader of the alliance and only the leader can annex.

U could try to get a separate peace with Turkey so that u become the head of the alliance of only consisting u and then annex them.

Thank you! That is exactly what I was wondering. The first aggressor and first defender are the wartime leaders then. At least I know why it happened. Now.... How much sense does it make? Huzic?!? ;)

I finally had this happen to me last night. As Russia I'm in an alliance with Scotland [the leader] and the Netherlands. Scotland DoWed England and Pommerania [sp] joined in on their side. Since I owned Danzig getting to Pomm was easy. I took over both provinces and expected to get the annex option. I didn't. I also took Lincoln, Kent, and Anglia [sp]. In the end I got W. Pomm, Lincoln, and Kent. Sadly, since I wasn't the one who made the DoW I couldn't get all of Pomm. I'll wait 5 years and they'll be mine! ;)

And it was also nice to get England's maps. :D
