military bug?

Hi,

I'm playing Russia in the GC. Invaded Kazan and over the course of the war, the
Kazanites would repeatedly send forces of less than 1,000 men to attack the roughly
60,000 men I had in Moscow. On at least three occasions, the following would occur:

(i) the attacking Kazanites disappear (so I assume they were annihilated)
(ii) I get a message saying something like 'our forces in moscow have been
beaten' and my 60,000 man force beats a hasty retreat to some other province.

I don't see how this can not be a bug. Has anyone else seen this before? Any suggestions?

By the way, apart from this annoyance, this is an excellent game.

Well, they were mean hombres until (despite their apparently miraculous combat skills) they
were assimilated into my collective. However, the same thing has since happened with
troops of other nationalities. My solution has been to save about every month whenever I'm
at war and reload if this happens, but this is far from ideal.
