This mod is a static galaxy version of my earlier mod Sol Unleashed, and is mainly intended for people wanting to start from Sol (although there are other options).

It contains two static maps:

1. A Milky Way map depicting the whole galaxy. Because of the large scale, the map contains relatively few known stars, although I am working on another version, which will not be to scale, and will contain more known stars.

2. A 'local cluster' map depicting about 800 relatively close stars.

I'm planning on keeping on improving the maps and adding other maps, especially Mass Effect and Star Trek, which should work well with mods that provide races from those franchises.

The Steam workshop page is here:

Although I understand what you means about the 1000 galaxy, be warned that the local cluster version also has only a small proportion of the total number of stars in that region. Also the distances are contracted somewhat as you get further from Sol, so I could get more stars in. I do have another version which only goes out about 300 light years from Sol, which is completely to scale within the constraints of the 2D, but I haven't released it yet.

In any event, I added a few more screenshots to the Steam workshop page, if you want to take a look. The first five pictures show the Milky Way version, while the final five pictures show the local cluster version.

I like Sol being where it should be but all of the other stars all uniformly placed around the center looks off.

@SAS Are you talking about the Milky Way map, and if so do you think the spirals are too regular? In fact, there is variation, but it may not be that apparent. The problem is that the 1000x1000 grid isn't quite big enough to do the galaxy well, because you have to balance getting the spirals wide enough while also providing sufficient distance between the spirals. I am working on a way to provide more randomisation in the placement of the stars in the spirals. It's quite tricky, because I need to avoid having more than one star placed at the same coordinates. Anyway, there should be a new version out by this weekend, if you want to take another look at that time.

Yes the milky way, fantastic work I must say but the stars seem a little to similar is spacing from each other on the galaxy arms. It looks almost grid patterned.
