Sorry to be a pain, I've migrated from the HOI Forum for a short time.

Victoria is due for release in the UK tomorrow (7/5/2004), however the minimum spec is shown on the GAME site as being Win 98SE, 98ME etc. The Paradox site itself shows Win98 as being compatible. Has the minimum spec been uprated for the UK?

At the moment I'm running a P3 667mhz with 256 RAM, 32Graphics card loads of spare memory on the Windows 98 O/S etc pending delivery of a new laptop this summer.

Will Viccy run on my current PC. I don't want to have to upgrade the O/S on my old system as it's going to be passed on to the kids in a few months anyway.

If the spec has been uprated is there anywhere I can get a copy of the Win 98 compatible game?

Thanks

The copies would be the same.
If your win98 is fully updated I don't see why you would need SE.

Buy it from a store that let's you return it if it does not function on system just to be sure.

Thanks for the advice, problem is many shops refuse to accept returned games in this way ( I can understand why though).

Having said that have been forced to take the somewhat dramatic step of buying a 3.2Ghz P4 laptop complete with baubles, bells and bunting just to ensure Victoria will run.

The things I do for Paradox!!!!!!!

Re Win 98 - I've a vague memory that something to do with networking and internet play causes a problem in Win 98.

Hope that laptop was the Medion from Toys'r'us - fantastic deal that!

Ah that will be the reason why I won't be able to play with myself then!

Yes it was the Medion, went out to buy a sandpit for one of the kids........ the rest is history.

So looks like SP would be okay and MP may be problematic.

Respect to the mods & thanks for the prompt replies.

appreciated
