This has probably been answered somewhere but what are the physics of mining. Do structures require a certain amount of connection to walls, ceilings or the ground? I mine an area to create a tall 2x2 pillar and then mine the lower areas of said pillar will the area all come tumbling down or not?

Hi Anenu! It depends. Some objects require a connection to walls, torches, paintings etc. No object require a connection to the ceiling and a large amount of objects require ground. That pillar will indeed tumble down in your new lower areas so digging beneath your throne room is something you should try to avoid :)

You could leave one layer of ground between the rooms, or more if you like. :)

It's also possible to mine out a large room, and split it off into different floors using "bridges" - they serve as a kind of flying floor.

Yeah, but you can't build something like stoneplates on them. So you are stuck with the look of the bridges you build.

This is correct. At the moment there is a selection of bridges to use, and though some of them blend in quite nicely with certain floor tiles, you cannot decorate them with floor tiles.

any change we will get the ability to put back blocks(for a hefty resource cost maybe?) later on in a patch?

Not to release. We have thought about this, and decided that this was not something we could put in AGoD to release.

Please note that both these questions are heavily discussed at Zeal. Neither will make it to release, but i will answer in my usual cryptical manner; Who knows what the future might hold. :)
