ok am i right u always need a real pic for an icon? this wont be a problem, i just dont have any drawings. as for the already mentioned Sepp Dietrich icon maybe as the last one, if its likely to be researched after 1945?

dont know what you have though
Yes, you're right - I create my icons starting from color: drawings for land, silhouettes for navy and view-from-above for aircraft. BTW, this is the great news within my icons: AFAIK no one else tried doing aircraft icons that resemble the original HoI2 ones, but ofc in colour and for each country  . The only one I can recall is kronoss, which made them for Germany. I took over his project and currently am about 60-70% done.

What I have (regarding icons) is just a full set of land, naval and air models. Some were not made by me (more than 50%, as a matter of fact) but the grueling work I put into them was that I've reworked ALL of them (some 5300 [yes, thousand] icons) to have for all the same code, I mean: same position and colour for the tier indicator, same position for the national flag/symbol, same graphical code for paras/marines/mountain troops and so on. In addition, I've made a lot of them from scratch when I didn't like them or felt a better version was needed/possible. So you've got as an example the German HQ III (yeah, will change him and find another general from the army, don't worry :p ) and many more which would be too time consuming to list here. The grand innovation though, as I wrote before, are the aircraft: you can see two examples in the third screenshot here. BTW my airforce icons display what their countries used to paint on the wings or on the tail (those who did); that's why in that screenshot I had to cancel the symbols the Luftwaffe painted on the tail of its aircraft. In the "uncensored" version you'll get the whole thing, though ;) .

So that's it. Apart from that, I've got a fair deal of interface graphics, some skins (the German topbar, already included by TeutonburgerW, is an example of them), fonts for being able to write the... *cough cough*... symbol with the runes, some audio improvements (tired of the standard sounds for "message", "new tech" and "unit upgraded", as well as other sounds like the battle ones? We've got the solution... at least for some countries, at the moment :D ) and other stuff. We'll have to discuss this in dept in the next days... but now I'm going to watch the interior of my eyelids for a few hours - bye!

Just saw some guys painting in the tunnel right outside me, as the good citizen I am, I scared them away, but I took a photo of it anyway. ;)
:)

Very nice, and thanks for the credit!
But your finished with the clock now?
You can bet! I've even redone it in two different versions: bottom left and bottom right of the leader/minister picture. See how it looks in game and get it here. BTW, thank you bestmajor for encouraging me to improve to the point it is now! I must admit I'm rather happy of the result ;) .

Ah, and thus...
...I think this could be considered no longer "in progress", right? ;)
_ _ _ _ _

As a final note, since a user asked me to send him the file and thus it is no longer a "secret", I post here for the MGM the redone supply and oil meters. A small addition which nevertheless makes those little bars much more readable IMHO. See how it looks here again. The two files, on the other hand, are here.

That's enough for today. Ah, from tomorrow I'll be back to my job :( so I will unfortunately have much less spare time, but I'll try to be online at least some minutes every evening to check out how are things proceeding :) . Can't assure I'll always be able to, though. So keep up the good work TeutonburgerW, bestmajor and all other people - I do care!!! ;)

No problem, will do it.

I realize maybe I did not explain myself clearly enough about these counter-style icons. They're great! Simple but very well done indeed, just as every good interface graphic should be IMHO. Besides, I share your opinion that they add to the "war" feeling (and that's why, for me, "use counters" on map is a must). But... when I look at the left interface panel and review my units, I like to actually see an example of the vehicle/aircraft/ship that my divisional counters represent... not to mention the fact that, after having done or improved many icons, I like to watch them as much as I can ;) .

Anyway, kudos for that work, really!!

Seeing that this became quite popular, I decided to join. I've made a lot of graphics enchancements for my mod, and I'll share some of them with you. All of these changes mentioned below are included in a .rar file at the end of the post.

First, probably the smallest, is a new popup icon for slider moves. I found the icon so unclear, with a big line with two small and one big vertical lines. So here's a new one:
popupunusedslider.png

I see that the color slider for the fundings are already changed. I don't like the arrow pointer it has, so I took the same icon that the slider moves have and expanded it a bit.

I also consider the tech team skill icons too bright. I remade them with a slight gradient effect.

Also, just for editing, I added a small light effect on the production speed icons:

Some in-game screens. These are taken from my mod, which explains some other possible graphics changes.

Well. Now when I know what you've done with all the unit icons, I certainly understand why you wont convert to new unit icons all of the sudden. :p

But these weren't so much hard works (only a couple of hours) and I've done some SKIF-like icons where one icon can take a couple of hours... So with that said, if you ever release your (very nice looking icons, those few I've seen), I'll certainly use them. Even if the rest isn't that good looking than thoose your screenshot showed, but just for I know how much work that must have went into that!

Thanks for that!

Hi! And thank you for your contribution!

popup_unused_slider @ Thank you! Looks much better! Included.

Productionspeed arrows @ Already done (darkened and with an thin, black outline. Looks pretty good, me thinks and I'm allergic to brightness, so this I won't includ, but I will put a link on the front page if someone prefers those?

Arrow pointer @ Unsure if I like it or no, what to the rest of you think (especially 1st GFX cross awarded guys, like Titan79 and bestmajor?)

Tech icons @ That certainly looks much better! I took the liberty of making a revised (a new brightness/hue/sat-layer) version of yours, a new of mine (without gradient) and yours of course. All three will be included. See below.

(Ps. Don't think that they look so ugly IRL. They look bad because it goes from .bmp to jpg. ;)

Thans again tuore for your contribution!

Why not just libertarianism, by the way?
I'd say it is too broad a term; keep in mind that one can have LibertIndiv and a fairly interventionist economy, what with the idea being open to SL and SC as well as ML.

Thanks for all discussions, feedback, developing etc etc!
Oh my... I certainly didn't expect that.

I hope you come back again, give some feedback, make some requests, contribute some own work...

The Order Of The GFX Cross (1st Class) awaits you.;)

Anyways, I'm thinking of re-doing the politcal ideas in order to have them one way instead of the current two ways. Either only real life photos or only "icons" (like the nazi eagle). Thoughts?

Also... Please, please, please all you who read, have something on your mind, never mind how minor it seems, if you want it redone or altered in any way, just say so! Many thanks to those who does. :)

Oh, right. Almost forgot. Read somewhere that German was without doubt the most played counry throughout the HOI-series, so i though, why not giving them an Iron Cross instead of that yellow little star?

1238uu0.png

(Will be in as optional, so that you won't have to have your russian Guards division with lots of iron crosses on them ;))

Oh, also, never really understood why the province pictures were slightly yellow when everything else in b&w; models, ministers, etc etc, so i redid them all. Hope you prefer it......

Thank you - older version? It is the version on the 1st page?

If the filename is "MGMIIver1" I'm ashamed. Though I fixed it in one of the earlier version (0.21, I think)...

Make sure to check back soon, just waiting for Fernando Torres to respond to wheter I may use a colorscale based on his (great) colorscale used in WIF, but where US is blue, UK red/pink, and then I'll release it.

Here's the changelog, hope there is something for you there and I'm truly sorry for messing your aod-directory up, but sometimes, you forgot to add/remove/rename/etc something and then it goes bad sometime. :eek:o

- Made province pictures b&w instead of sepia
- Added opional experience_star.bmp (ironcross)
- Added extra revised TC_icons.bmp (thanks tuore!)
- Revised TC_icons.bmp
- Revised popup_unused_slider (thanks tuore!)
- New clock (thanks Titan79!)
- New statusbar (with markings) for oil and supplies (thanks Titan79!)
- Optional unit icons (for land divisions, NATO counter-style)
- New capital icon (thanks Titan79!)
- Revised my own country.csv and colorscale.csv further

and hopefully:

- Added revised colorscale of the great WIF-mod (thanks FT!)

:)

Ah! I see what occured - the file you gave me was not in the version on the 1st page - it would be fixed if you included that button graphic in the file so it will overwrite the older incorrect file.

Thank you for your help!

More screenshots of the mod on the first page.

Okay, this has almost nothing to do with this mod, but I'm editing the colorscale for my own mod. Could you post the values you entered for the Soviet Union, I'd like to use them for UK.

Just download it. Should take you about 3 seconds. :p

And if you're referring to the colorscale on the screenshot above, that part of the colorscale is completly made by Fernando Torres (and his WIF-mod), so be sure to credit him for it.

AAHH, how could I be so stupid? I didn't even see it was for download .
And, no offend for Fernando (great mod he has), but I don't really think I need to mention him in the credits for giving me 4 RGB values.

I think it's not that bad, although it could be improved - as well as almost everything else :D ;)

hi

re colourscales i think its an improvement except the colour of the waters which should be darker and more greyish IMO?

otherwise good stuff from tuore and many thanks to TeutoW to collect and organize all that!

btw made some pics for those "national ideas" and uploading them to catch some opinions:

http://www.filefront.com/15868533/world_views.rar/

i abstained from the frames, though.

originals are in the pack in a separate file, just in case you want to return to the status quo ante.

feedback is welcome
