Lorraine was fun and challenging in 1.05, cause their starting position is so dangerous, France or Burgundy can dow anytime. But after the first 20 years it's the same as the other minors. In 1.06 Lorraine is even more harder, but should survive with careful playing. I really like Lorraine, it's one of the hardest nations to play in the start anyway. What I ment was that most of the minors were too easy to play in 1.05 and now they all are harder, you can't make any mistakes with those one province minors. ;)

Host

After some success hosting games and after unsuccessful other times, I've decided to check the up and down stream of my connection... and the result is not very good (quit different from what I was supposed to have): :(
128/640 (up/down).

I think that this may take me away from the possibles hosts :(

I'm happy to see that people, after some testing, are still interested in a minors game. Red, me and some others tried one last night, and it was quite fun. I started out as Lorraine, and to answer Wyvern's question: yes, it DO crash if anyone get's annesed.... Anyway, I'm still hot for this game. I would like an update on who's still in nad who's not, and maybe we should reselect countries? Let me know...

Yeah, now that Bakito is out, we need fresh blood. Cambion is a commue, but I guess he'll do anyway... :p

I just tried to play Lorraine in sp, and it's really difficult (vhard/aggressive). I don't have a problem with the fact that the support costs has been increased so drastically and all that - but I do have a problem with the fact, that it doesn't fully apply to the AI as well! It's pretty tough to get anywhere, when I have -1,8 per month and I only pay half maintenance - while other 1 prov minors field an army twice that size without any problems... this really should apply to both human an AI.

Bakito played LOR in a "test minors game" and he managed it very well. In that game I was playing Navarra and everything went also really well.

Off course that now the margin for mistakes is much lesser. A cooperative game at the beggining may be usefull.

I, personaly, found much more fun playing minors or "almost minors" countries.

A couple of things is really important playing minors.
And we have to know that in MP the first year the laga may be a big problem (but after that it tends to be reduced and eliminated). And atacking with lag with a minor is suicide.
Off course that playing 1:1 the first years until everyone has a good position is also important, and drastically reduces lag.
Also alliances are now much more important.

I'm also playing a Kingdom of Jerusalem (sp) campaign and I'm doing ok.

P.S.: I also think that the fact that the AI does have the same rules than the Human Player is !"#!"#. But like they couldn't improve the AI they prefered to make him a cheater.
So, I know it is hard, and since you shouldn't atack with lag, the first thing to do with a minor will be probably to disband your armies.

I haven't read this whole thread, but Brittany I have found is quite powerful if properly managed. I played a game with Cambion today where I managed to take over half of France by 1426:rolleyes: .

Yeah, Brittany is pretty strong - nad their Gaelic culture leads the way for a British adventure as well!;)
