I played s.p. HOI2:Arma for hours last night, saving frequently (three different saves, as well as autosave and oldautosave), and finally turned off the computer (Vista) to go to sleep. Well, when I reloaded Arma this morning, none of the save games are present in the menu -- nor is there anything in the scenarios/save games folder.

Has anyone else had their save games disappear?

Note: My game crashed at one period, and when I reloaded the saves were fine. They seem to have disappeared only after shutting off the computer and turning it back on. I'm going to reboot now with a test save and check the hypothesis.

Vista sometimes moves things around.

Search for *.eug files... you will find them

Note you can avoid this issue if you uninstall HOI2 and install it in a different directory other than C:\Program Files..... like in a place called c:\games

That doesn't seem to be the case as I've done a full search of C:\Program Files for EUG files, and the save games in question do not appear. Thanks for the note about C:\Games.

Nevermind - I did a full system scan immediately afterwards and they appeared. Thank you!

Yes Vista likes to do remapping of files etc when you install things in the C:\Program Files directory.

You probably found them in some folder named after your username or something like that.

I am not a terribly big fan of this policy but i do see why they do it (it is supposed to protect against malicious viruses etc).
