We could ally w/ Hungary if you release Ireland and the Philippines as independent nations.

An interesting setup, Zaku!

Looking forward to seeing how this works out.

Unfortunately I couldn't make time to update the AAR this week. I have plans to do so in a few days.

Voss: Oba zuchy, oba żwawi Niech im Pan Bóg błogosławi. :)

Rensslaer, Kargos: thanks guys, and welcome.

Herbert West: Unfortunetaly this is not the same Haynau... but that guy would deserve a "faszkorbács" for sure;)

hoi2geek: Sorry, but who are "we?":)

Enewald: Yes you are right, but I hope it will be a price I'm willing to pay

Fiftypence: The rolls were in my favor, Lady luck was on my side in these battles.

We'll be waiting eagerly for that update.

Hungary has inspired some very memorable AARs. This could wind up being one of them.

Zaku's taken a stab at Hungary before, but abandoned it. More recently, just about exactly a year ago, his France AAR "Do you like snails?" was featured in the Weekly AAR Showcase, and developed nicely before being cut short by a technical issue (which, given that he was playing HoI3 1.1c, was only a matter of time). He's also played a bit of Rome, a game we ought to remember more than we do. (I have written about playing Rome, but Paradox forum rules forbid me from linking to it.)

However Zaku learned English, it worked quite well, and the proof is in those AARs, which are solidly entertaining to read. I've been sorry to see them cut short, but this new one has great potential, and the speedy Grand Campaign of Victoria 2 -- as well as its generally good condition even this close to release -- augur well for its potential completion. Also, I'm always pleased to see Austria get it in the teeth. Bastards are a Lucky Nation in EU3 far too often for their own good.

So it seems natural enough, for extant body of work and for things hopefully to come, to name Zaku the WritAAR of the Week. Wear it well, mon ami!

Just think, if Hungary releases Ireland and the Philippines as independent nations, the Hungarians will win the support of the Irish and Filipino peoples for breaking the shackles of British and Spanish rule.

It would be the same thing if they also release Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany, Galicia, and Asturias.

A lovely AAR. Always great destroying the Great White Blob.

umg: I'm honored, thank you.
I also hope I can finish this campaign. I'll try to post an update every weekend, but my life can come in the way of this AAR sometimes. I'm already quite into the game, and still no ctds so far, at least this AAR wont be abandoned because of crashes or something like that.

Karaiskandar: Thanks:)

hoi2geek: I'm not in the position to challenge the UK ... yet:)

Daffius, foriavik: Mindig jó magyarokat látni a fórumon:) Üdvözöllek titeket.

TekcoR Thank you, and welcome.

von Rypp: I saw her surviving and retaining her great power status in one of my games. She was number 6 or 7 power by '36. For the most time she gets destroyed though as you say.

On a sidenote, update is almost ready, I'll just have to cut the screenshots and proof read it... so probably a hour or two.

While the battles in the north were raging, the austrian army began a huge offensive in Croatia with the help of the south german federation. Since the conscript reserves were just began to mobilize, the National Guard was only able to send the General reserves - 12000 infantry with no cavalry or artillery support - against the whole South German army. The leader of this army - Poeltenberg István - was ordered to stall the enemy invasion until more forces were avalible. However by March 10 he was cornered in Senj, with no way to retreat. He did achieve part of his objectives, because after the victories in the north 40000 honvéds were marching to relieve Croatia.

It seemed like there is no escape for Poeltenberg though. An Austrian army marching towards him outnumbering his army 2:1, A fresh Bavarian army to the north cutting the retreat and and an other 8000 German soldiers nearby, ready to join the fight. However the hungarian leadership did not want to loose 12000 honvéds so easily. Luckily the Ottoman Empire was eager to help the Hungarian independence, they probably want to see a particioned Central Europe rather then an united one.

In March 30 Poeltenberg pulled back to Ottoman territory leaving Croatia undefended and completly lost to the Austrians. The reserves from the north were not able to relieve him in time. Preparations began for the "Spring Campaign" to liberate the territory lost.

Meanwhile an other menace showed itself. An austrian army broke through the hungarian border guards from Galicia and was heading straight to Pest - Buda. With the reseves fightning in Croatia, hungarian leadership had little choice but to lead the partially mobilized conscript army into battle. The 2nd Honvéd Corps was also recalled from the border to defend the capital. This however left Slovakia and Trasdanubia completly undefended.

By april 28 every major military threat were contained at least, and the reserves were ready to fight at last. Several regiments were pulled back to Pest - Buda to rest and refit, and more men were sent to the south to reinforce the Spring Campaign. A small part of the National Guard was mopping up the remaining austrian invaders in Transdanubia.

Time for peace, indeed.
The Austrians should understand that the Hungarian independance can't be undone.

hi

demand Illyria, will make for some nice borders, also force austria to release Poland or Venice, to get a friend and weaken the Habsburgs (I would rather have Krakkow be in the sphere of Hungary and give it all of the Habsburg polish provinces so once Poland is united under Krakkow rule it will still stay the capitol of Poland and until then polish galicia would look beter under Krakkows colors anyway, but I guess if you demand west and east galicia then annex Krakkow you can still re-release it as a Krakkow that is your satelite and actually owns all of galicia, or does that need some editing?)

btw, the moment Rumania is formed go and annex it, then release the two original nations as your sattelites
