THIS MOD IN NOW OBSOLETE AND NO LONGER SUPPORTED!
Patch 1.5 implements better alert customisation functionality than this mod can ever provide, so this mod is no longer needed and will not be supported further. Sincerely thank you, Paradox!
Latest game version this mod supports is 1.2.7 (but there's probably no good reason to keep using that old version).

Customise alerts: they can be set to show as separate Alerts, show in the Current Situation bubble or be completely disabled.
Customization is done via Game Rules, so you can save your selection for future playthroughs, but you can NOT change your selection during a playthrough (except perhaps via save-game editing). Default settings are the same non-modded game uses.
Some alerts that are shown in the Current Situation bubble by default, might only show one instance if set to show as a separate Alert. For example, starting as the Ottomans “Insufficient Tax capacity” will have multiple different provinces listed, if set to show in the Current Situation bubble, but only one province (Albania) will show up, if set to show as a separate Alert. The alert-types that might have this problem have a warning text in Game Rule selection view. Many alerts are also lacking unique graphics, if set to show as a separate Alert.
Fully localised in English. Other languages should have the alerts themselves localised correctly and only part of the Game Rule settings in English. I haven’t tested non-English languages at all though, so please report issues you might find.
The only base-game file this mod directly edits is 00_alert_types.txt (and that file MUST be edited for this mod to be able to work), so any mod that does not also edit that same file should be compatible (including mods that add new alerts, as long as they do so without editing that file but use their own instead).
I would very much like to do a similar mod for messages and notifications, but unlike alerts, they and their uses are defined all over the files, so initial implementation and future maintenance would be quite laborious. This mod, however, should be pretty low-effort to maintain.
Please ask for my permission before copying or re-distributing this. Or well, if you are Paradox employee and want to incorporate this in some form into the base-game, then you are more than welcome to do so (and do the message settings too while you are at it, please)!
