It's nice, but I can't use emblems that aren't backed up by canon sources. I feel skittish even making my own when there's a written description.

Understandable but that is exactly how a lot of things became canon in the BattleTech universe. Someone imagined them, someone illustrated from the description and eventually FASA or today Catalyst gives them the stamp of "canon" approval. Authors, artist and game developers have all added things to the IP which, over time, became official.

If you'd like to take a crack at colorizing the images on page 1 of this thread, I'd be happy to add them to the next emblem update. Just make sure any color choices don't conflict with known canon sources.
Let me know what the canon colors are - I'm sure one of us will do something :D

- Kingston Caballeros: no known description.
- Longwood's Bluecoats: Per FASA 1629: The Periphery (1st edition), p. 79 "A blue-coated pikeman." Several other sources repeat the same information.
- Bannockburn's Bandits: Per FASA 1629: The Periphery (1st edition), p. 79 "A hand holding up a bag of gold." Can't find any additional descriptions.
- Harcourt's Destructors: Per FASA 1629: The Periphery (1st edition), p. 98 "A mace held in hand against a white field." Per FM: Mercs, Revised the hand can be either green or human-pink depending on which of the two battalions is sporting the symbol (I assume the pink version is more "standard").
- Hudsenn's Red Devils: Per FASA 1629: The Periphery, p. 98 "A grinning red devil surrounded with a gold wreath." After more research, I think this is the same emblem used by Derek's Devils from Combat Manual: Mercenaries p. 30, which was formed as a splinter group from Hudsenn's Red Devils:

I colored Bannockburn's Bandits:

I also made the hand in Harcourt's Destructors a bit more flesh tone, and set it on the white field from the description:

Touched up Hudsenn's Red Devils:

The only one remaining is Longwood's Bluecoats. I tried to color it, but it didn't look very good so I guess I'll have to wait until someone else takes a crack at it.

Sorry I went with your literal 'pink' instead of Caucasian. But, I figured if the other was 'green' - unless they were referring to an olive complexion - then why not pink ;)

Bandits and Devils look good!

I have an in process for the Bluecoats, but it looks more like an image from the Osborne military series than an icon. And when shrunk down is totally indistinguishable :p
