Automata
Version 0.1
Although factories and railways formed a part of the technological revolution of the nineteenth century, the most remarkable technological leap was the creation of the automaton. Machine men, needing neither food nor wages, found a presence in all walks of life; from servants in the houses of the rich to labourers on the farms, humans workers were supplanted by their mechanical counterparts everywhere. The creation of automata placed society on a dangerous course; a course in which humanity could distance itself from the toil of its ancestors and live in contented abundance or where the wealthiest could win the future and leave the common worker behind.
