A later mission for Carthage, after perhaps Siciliy Sardinia and Spain has been secured could be the retaking of the mother city of Tyre, the mission could say something like -

“The many Phoenician refugees who linger around the streets of Carthage are a grim reminder of the recent barbaric destruction of our mother city of Tyre, by the savage Hellenes. While we were preoccupied with fending off the Greek menace in our colonies, many among us turned a blind eye to our very own grand city of Melqart.
When the Achaemenid Emperor Cambysses II attempted to muster a fleet to destroy Carthage, his Phoenician fleet refused, Tyre always protected Carthage, and shamefully Carthage has left Tyre to the wolves. It is time we undo this great dishonor to the Punic world, and set out to re-establish the many Phoenician citystate
s."

This mod really helps in turning Carthage into something closer to what it was historically. This helps both for immersion and gameplay, many thanks!

I personally like to play this mod with a modified version of the excellent Stratera Balance from @maxk94 for better core mechanics and with Elections! which help in immersion for playing republics. With due authorization from all 3 authors, I could share the merged version here. It makes for a truly immersive Carthage playthrough!

the unite africa before you can deal with sicily/sardinia mission, often becomes impossible to start with greyed out button and idk why

I am not sure what mission you are refering to? At this moment the only mission regarding Africa is the "The Matter of Aelymas" mission. It should get disabled if Mideni doesn't exist anymore, or if Aelymas no longer rulers the Midini.

There is already a mission to reconquer Phoenicia in the Punic Wars DLC. Eventually I will get around to redoing all mission trees, but that one is probably the last one I'll touch.

I am glad you are enjoying it and glad it inspired you to create your own sub mod. But at this moment I am not looking into merging other mod's into my mod, especially not one dealing with the political aspects of the game: I have my own reworking of Carthaginian politics in the planning. Best I focus on my own plans first and then look where I can compliment my work, and have my work compliment others.

But do feel free to distribute it if you want! Let other people enjoy your work!

The way you have changed the terrain in this mod really engages you more in tactics and bottlenecks etc, it's really great. I hope you'll expand the mod to other regions too, and apply the same way of edited terrain.

Might this interest you?

I had already completed this for 1.5, but couldn't release due to a unsolvable bug, and left out for 2.0 just to get something out now.

This is still going to take a while to finish, as I need to finish up part of the map, and then set the POPs correctly and redo all locators.

After that; Bactria!

Man I'd love to play this, I have different mod playsets for all them, combining it would be killer!

So great news on the Vicky 3 announcement. It looks like all I've ever wanted. (except the map might not be as detailed as I'd like ;) )

Anyhow, I spend my day off building roads... Yes I embarked on this completely insane endevour to redraw all roads in anatolia manually... I booted up the Digital Atlas of the Roman Empire and started drawing. Just wanting to share the fruits of my labour so far:

Still WIP of course. And despite a full day's work I managed to do less than half of Anatolia. In green the areas I finished:

This isn't actually new, but I am pretty far along with converting the steppes map to 2.0. Only really still need to do the positioning. I finished rebuilding the road network in anatolia (or -more accurately- I got tired of it and decided to call it finished)

Yup, finally got my computer in working order. So now I can start porting the map over. :) That is going to take a little while though.

I started the map editor, and it seems like the issue with the roads has been fixed; I can manually redraw the roads. Which means I can also look into fixing those little stubs you get when you do have a road, but don't have a city.

Unfortunately I also immediately broke the map editor again. I haven't been able to get it working again. This is the error log I get:
Code:
[21:50:27][pdx_assert.cpp:566]: Assertion failed: Not ingame and not mapeditor?
[21:50:27][brush_settings.cpp:419]: Error while loading radial brush database: Failed to open file tools/mapeditor/radial_brushes.json. File does not exist in any of the mounted locations.

Does anybody have the radial_brushes.json file in their mapeditor map? If so could it be posted here along with other files from the mapeditor map?

As for more gameplay changes:
Yes I would like to see money play a bigger role in Carthage, with more fluidity based on it. As a start I whipped up a new heritage for Carthage:
View attachment 698211
(un)integrated culture happiness is there to make rulling diverse empires harder while incentivising the cultural integration of peoples (should probably also get an assimilation and conversion speed penalty)
Corruption is there because Carthage comes across as a rather corrupt state to me
And promotion and demotion speed increases to represent that money, not heritage, counts in Carthage.

Hi! Apologies for disturbing you, but did you manage to bypass the tools/mapeditor/radial_brushes.json missing error?

Oh, this has been a while. I am not sure what you are refering to? It is not something which I really ran into or which really bothered me.

btw; should I just release the latest state of the mod for others to play around with / use? I don't think I'll do any more work on it.

I am just trying to see how map modding works in Jomini-based games, but for some reason, I cannot launch the map editor every time, and I am not sure what causes the game to crash.

Since I am not familiar with the error I am afraid I can't help you. Have you tried the discord and the invictus team? They might have more insight into it.

Yes, I am in contact with people via Discord. Thank you for your help! :)

I hope that the Invictus team can help you out, and perhaps even add you to the team and this content into the main Invictus mod. Here's me hoping for that. :)

Yes, you should release it if you don't think you'll do any more work on it

@Gurkal: Some of crownsteler's work is already in Invictus :)

I uploaded it to Steam, primarily so others can use it for their mods. Aside from the deity icons, all of it is free to use for whatever purpose. It is a shame I wont continue working on it, because I do like it. :/ Well, we all need to move on, and right now Anno 1836/my Vic3 mod requires all my attention.

As a last hurrah, a last goodbye to my lover (XD), I feel some screenshots are warrented

Well steam doesn't appear to be willing to load this mod, so I guess that was it then. No clue why it doesn,'t. I guess it doesn't goe out with a bang, but with a fizzle. Oh well.

Very sad to hear. :(

Well I put it on steam and all files are there -as far as I can tell-, but it wont load the mod. And I don't know why, and I don't have the time to find a solution. Does anybody perhaps know?
