Thanks. Going to look at the new namelists right away. If you'd like I might actually whip up a namelist for this mod, and if I do, I might even do a joke one as well.

You're welcome! Feel free to do whatever you need. I haven't added a joke namelist in yet (though some of the Plantoid names I added can be a bit amusing) but I probably should eventually...

VERSION 1.2.5 IS UP - DOWNLOAD ON THE STEAM WORKSHOP HERE!

Was gonna wait until later this week for this update but since PI released a new vanilla patch I decided to rush this update a bit a release it today. Manual download also in the first ppost as always.

Changelog for Version 1.2.5:
  • Added four new namelists: Al-Andalus/Moorish (Real), Diacritics 1, Diacritics 2, Diacritics 3
  • Plantoid 2, 3, and 4 namelists renamed to 4, 5, and 6 respectively, to prevent confusion with the official vanilla Plantoid 2 and 3 namelists added in the latest patch (they are still named Plantoid 2, 3, and 4 in the code to prevent compatibility issues)
  • Plantoid 5 and 6 namelists now use the fleet and army names of the vanilla Plantoid 2 and 3 namelists to maintain some consistency
The Diacritics namelists are basically just my normal fantasy namelists, except with diacritics. I learned while making the Icelandic namelist a while back that the game will display (some) diacritics, and thought it'd be fun to make some namelists with an overabundance of them. The Moorish namelist consists mainly of names from medieval Islamic Spain (and some other related terms) so you can live out your fantasies of Space Alhambra and Re-re-conquista of those Spanish infidels in space.

VERSION 1.2.6 IS UP - DOWNLOAD ON THE STEAM WORKSHOP HERE!

New update up, featuring three Iranian namelists, because I'm super salty Persia's not going to be in vanilla Civ6 even though it's been in vanilla Civ since Civ2 but they put in Norway of all civs. Anyways, rage aside, I'll be on vacation for a week and a half but I don't forsee any major bugs.

Manual download in first post as usual.

Changelog for Version 1.2.6:
  • Added three new namelists: Iranian (Real), Sarmatian (Real), Sogdian (Real)
  • Added new species name from randomly spawned AI Empires using the vanilla Plantoid 1, 2, and 3 namelists

Sorry to hear that, but I get to play my ancestor... But I don't get to play as Persia. I'd ideally want both.

Anyways always nice to see a new update from you, Cybr.

VERSION 1.2.7 IS UP - DOWNLOAD ON THE STEAM WORKSHOP HERE!

New update, the usual. I haven't been playing Stellaris much since I'm waiting for Heinlein and Leviathans to come out, but I may do one more small update before Heinlein comes out.

Manual download in first post of course as usual.

Changelog for Version 1.2.7:
  • Added two new namelists: Japanese 2 (Fantasy), Saxon (Fantasy)

Hey... I've been using this mod for ages with no problems, however just started up the game today for the first time in a couple of weeks and when creating a new species I don't see the namelists available, instead I see a long list of things like "name_list_army_names", "name-list_fleet_names", etc. And when I select them the examples section is blank. No idea what's happened but I tried uninstalling the Steam version and using the direct download instead but its still broken.

VERSION 1.3.0 IS UP - DOWNLOAD ON THE STEAM WORKSHOP HERE!

New update. No new additions or changes, just a quick and dirty update to Heinlein. You can theoretically use the most recently version too and it should work fine (other than the mod launcher displaying the mod as outdated). This is a busy time for me, as I'm worrying about the end of college, jobs, life, women, all that good stuff, not to mention I’ll be distracted by BF1 and Civ6, so I might be slow to update, but I will try to continue working on the mod since it's not that crazy big a mod.

Manual download in first post of course as usual.

Changelog for Version 1.3.0:
  • Updated to Heinlein

VERSION 1.3.1 IS UP - DOWNLOAD ON THE STEAM WORKSHOP HERE!

There was a bug in 1.3.0 that caused names to not display properly. Heinlein removed one line of code in all of the namelist files and I didn't notice that. Anyways tested it and it should be fine.

Manual download in first post of course as usual.

Changelog for Version 1.3.1:
  • Fixed a possible bug causing names to not display

Thank you for the fast update!

One question: Do you know if your mod is compatible with this?

Yes it should be fine. My mod doesn't modify any vanilla assets.

VERSION 1.3.2 IS UP - DOWNLOAD ON THE STEAM WORKSHOP HERE!

What a coincidence I'm still alive and kicking. Anyways, new update up, compatible with Kennedy, all that good stuff. I haven't been into Stellaris lately since I've been busy with other rl stuff and other games, but I'm planning on buying Leviathans if/when it goes on sale later during the Holidays so expect me to pick up Stellaris again.

Manual download in first post of course as usual.

Changelog for Version 1.3.2:
  • Updated to Kennedy
  • Added three new namelists: Celtic (Fantasy), Fantasy 7 (Fantasy), Malian (Fantasy)
  • Plantoid 4 namelist renamed to Plantoid 7 to avoid having a duplicate name with vanilla’s Plantoid 4 namelist
  • Humanoid AI species will now use namelists added in CANS like the other phenotypes
  • Fixed Plantoid namelists not being numbered properly in non-English languages

VERSION 1.3.3 IS UP - DOWNLOAD ON THE STEAM WORKSHOP HERE!

Last update before the new year.

We’ve officially reached 100 namelists! :D (I think… I’m bad at math and if I counted wrong just pretend it’s 100)

To celebrate I am adding a new namelist called “Human (CANS)” that will hopefully be a more robust, substantial, diverse namelist than the vanilla offerings. While the vanilla human namelists were pretty cool, I always felt like they could use some more variety of names. However, to maintain compatibility with other mods, I’ve decided not to edit the existing namelists but add new ones, and have begun by adding in some of the “real” namelists I’ve previously added. I will continue to add to CANS’ human namelist as I create more “real” namelists. Additionally, for “Human,” I’ve combined both the ship and planet names from the vanilla Human 1 and 2 as I felt their thematic differences weren’t that significant and because I’m lazy to make two new namelists.

Manual download in first post of course as usual.

Changelog for Version 1.3.2:
  • Added seven new namelists: Apostrophe 5 (Fantasy), Human (Real), Mongolian (Fantasy), Reptilian 4, Reptilian 5, Reptilian 6, Venetian (Real)
  • Tweaked Asian-American namelist
  • Fixed Iranian royal surnames being Sogdian royal surnames

VERSION 1.3.4 IS UP - DOWNLOAD ON THE STEAM WORKSHOP HERE!

Happy new year to everyone. First update of 2017 is out. Relatively big update again, so enjoy. Also includes real Greek and Turkish namelists now, so you can re-enact your Kebab wars in space.

EDIT: Though I make no guarantees, I'm trying to see if I can add in new Empire naming schemes that'd be compatible with vanilla and most mods (i.e. so you don't see "X Centralized Suns" or "Y Progenitors" or "Z Foundation" for the nth time). Any suggestions are welcome, but again I'll only do it if I can figure out a way to do it that would be compatible-friendly.

Manual download in first post of course as usual.

Changelog for Version 1.3.4:

  • Added eight new namelists: Greek (Real), Greek 3 (Fantasy), Egyptian 2 (Fantasy), Fantasy 8 (Fantasy), Chinese (Real), Korean (Real), Turkish (Real), Vietnamese (Real)
  • Added Greek, Korean, Turkish, and Vietnamese names to CANS’ human namelist
  • Added ~500 new star names, ~80 new black hole names, ~40 new asteroid prefixes/postfixes, and ~80 new nebula names
  • Tweaked existing Chinese names in CANS’ human namelist

There are two errors in your files. real_turkish.txt (line 153) and real_greek.txt (line 124) both use Division_names when they should use army_names - This doesn't seem to have any issues with other namelists, as I've played with other namelists, but I'm not 100% certain if playing with those ones would have issues.

VERSION 1.3.5 IS UP - DOWNLOAD ON THE STEAM WORKSHOP HERE!

New version up, same old same old.

Manual download in first post of course as usual.

Changelog for Version 1.3.5:

  • Added three new namelists: Babylonian (Fantasy), Hippie (Fantasy), Korean (Fantasy)
  • Added in more spawnable empire names for the following namelists: Bantu (Fantasy), Forerunner (Halo), Hawaiian (Fantasy), Inuit (Fantasy), Samartian (Real)
  • Fixed several real namelists being used for species that spawn in the middle of a game: Al-Andalus/Moorish, Chinese, Greek, Iranian, Korean, Sarmatian, Turkish, Venetian, Vietnamese
  • Fixed typos in the Real Turkish and Greek namelists

Thanks for the heads up, I've fixed that in 1.3.5. Or I hope I did! :p

My error.log file reports no issues with real_turkish.txt or real_greek.txt

It does, however, report that there are a number of names that are too long. In 00_defines.lua, NInterface.SHIP_NAME_SIZE_MAX is set to 26. The shortest one (N.S. de Belém e São José) comes in at 24 characters, so I don't know why it's triggering it, but some have up to 33 characters. Perhaps placing a define for overriding the max ship length to something like 35 would be in order?

Also, one of the names coming up is "Aquila Volante/Aquilla Valiera " which I'm not sure if it's supposed to be two separate names or not. That one in particular shows up in real_venice.txt, line 17

Edit: Also, given the sheer amount of stuff in it, I'm not sure this qualifies as a mini-mod anymore.
