Your mod sounds very interesting but I must say that the shipwrecks are rather terrifying, with their high chance to kill you or your commanders outright. To be honest, since you can change leadership of your armies at any time, why would you even put your commanders on the ship? Just teleport them to your army after they've crossed.

Can the feature be turned off?

It might be more interesting if there was a risk/reward and entertainment component for the player, dynasty members or commanders who get on a boat:
  • Positive opinion and prestige from having led your troops at sea (similar to the bonuses in this mod from leading armies https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/mod-immersive-army-leadership.1069652/ ) since it's so dangerous.
  • 75% chance of gaining positive traits, 10% chance of negative traits
  • Event chains where you chance upon a shipwreck full of gold, relics or interesting characters for your court
  • Encounters with various sea monsters and legends (sirens, mermaids, kraken, ghost ship) - was what you saw true, or did your senses deceive you?
  • Multiple ways to cheat destiny for your troops, important characters or just you, if the storm actually happens:
    • Pray to the Virgin Mary (which is what Christian sailors would do) or <insert favority god here>, chance of success based on your piety or how much piety you spend.
    • Make a vow - you'll join a religious order or shave your beard or other life-changing action if you survive.
    • Use leadership to designate an inspired new captain who leads you to safety (you owe a favor, and/or a new character joins court), or take the reins yourself if you have at least basic proficiency.
    • Throw food, weapons, (people?) overboard to lighten the ship, increasing the chances of surviving at the cost of gold, troops, relics, prestige, and the risk of being attacked by pirates or starving later down the line.
    • End up in a small embarcation or on a raft, with a chance to be picked up by a (friendly/neutral/enemy) ship or reaching land (desert island or civilized area)
    • Another character sacrifices himself to save you.
    • The idea is to reduce the chance of outright destroying the player's hours of effort to a very, very low percentage like 0,1%.
Of course this is starting to sound like a mod of its own (and perhaps should be, together with the Piracy features?), but hopefully the brainstorm is useful.

Me and my brother are both loving the Mod. Just noticed two slight things. Like in this Screenshot. There is a bit of a space between Days and my spouse. But it is minor

And another where i think it is a event from Dark ages and there is no text at all ?. I am on the latest updated Version of HIP and Dark ages so was just wondering ( Although not when i took this Screenshot since i realized the stream version was up to date. So maybe this was fixed

Would this mod work with the latest version of HIP?

Most probably! But make sure to ask on STEAM too, so you'll get an answer from Cardolam.

Thanks for the tip, I didn't notice that the mod had apparently moved to Steam and had more updates since then.

No problem ;)

Do tributary states also do the oath thing or no?

EDIT: In light of the above, I'll ask on Steam

From my limited knowledge of the mod, I believe only vassals perform the oath.

How can I get a mod version for ck2 v2.8.3.4?

Good evening,

firstly thanks for your work on the mod. I recently started playing a game with it (with HIP and some minor mods). Unfortunately i ran in to a problem, which causes a crash to desktop. After reloading its always the same date the game crashes after half a minute of freezing. Sadly i'm not versed with scripting, so i hope i can find some help here.

The Error log is quite long, but it mostly repeats three lines:

[effectimplementation.cpp:9989]: Script Assert! assert: "pPlot", type: "back_plot", location: " file: events/dark_ages_ai_backs_plot.txt line: 241"
Turning off the AI with "noai" in the console makes the game run beyond that date, but after turning it back on it will crash soon after.

Is this even a game crashing bug?

Thank you for your effort!

Have a nice week!

I deleted the contents of Error.log one day before the usual crash date in hope of identifying the culprit. If needed i can provide one with more lines :).

I hope it's "Dark Ages" which crashes the game, since the other two lines are below, and i dont even have a file with the name "ipc_court_formation_decisions.txt" :D (maybe that file is missing so thats why the quotation marks are empty?)

[triggerimplementation.cpp:13785]: Script Assert! assert: "nProvince > 0 && "CRegionTrigger has the wrong Scope!"", type: "none", location: " file: decisions/ipc_court_formation_decisions.txt line: 1200"
[triggerimplementation.cpp:13785]: Script Assert! assert: "nProvince > 0 && "CRegionTrigger has the wrong Scope!"", type: "none", location: " file: decisions/ipc_court_formation_decisions.txt line: 1209"

I will investigate further, maybe i can find which mod wants that file or why its missing.

Greetings and welcome to Paradox forum,

Thank you for your report.
I don't know if it is Dark Ages the culprit, what I can say is that nobody ever reported that bug and I never experienced such.

As things stand, I am not developing for Dark Ages anymore, sorry about that.

Good evening,
....

Going by the line of the error log it's neither a Dark Ages nor a HIP file that causes the conflict.
So i'd say check which mod has an ipc_court_formation_decisions.txt file in its' decision folder and turn it off.

I just saw that the Mediafire download is from 2020, but the last update on Steam is from the 28th april 2021, which i have.
So is the Mediafile downoad outdated or is there a misunderstanding ?
As far as i can see two decisions files got changed in '21.

PS: Nevermind, forgot the circumstances of you not being the original author....
I guess you can't acess the opening post, so i'll quote your last post with the download for others to see in the future.
