I do really like the idea of drunk having negatives when fatigued. I think my latest suggestion is hilarious as it ties into thinking they are invincible like someone keeps advocating!

Yea, I can't think of anything else "spacer" might imply lol, except they're used to being in space. which usually means not greatest living conditions.

I like the rest, dropping drunk would be epic :p:p:p

I kinda like my idea of the Spacer giving an "ship engineering" bonus, making Argo work cheaper or faster, if that's possible.

Okay, some of my motivations:

  • Klutz - my original idea was to have reduced stability. It makes sense if the mech was a person as they are more likely to fall over. However, I was trying to find a way that the pilot could make a klutzy mistake and have it represented in game. I figured they could accidentally hit eject when their mech falls over! I could certainly go with the reduced stability, though. ;)
  • I had also thought of making spacers reduce the impact of negative morale by decreasing the loss of morale. I wasnt sure if this made sense overall, but I see others have come up with the idea, too! Must be a good one. :)
  • Drunk - I like the idea of -1 evasion at all times. Is that too brutal? -1 evasion if they drop while fatigued?
  • Command/officer - I think I will try to give an initial bump to starting morale in combat if they are present instead of morale per turn. If I can do this, I can probably check for the highest level of mmander present and give a bonus based upon that.
  • Why should criminal have a negative? The company has an inherent bias against formal criminals?
  • Comstar adept: I looked at the lore and adepts aren't too high up the chain. Like Podunk technicians. What would fit in better here?
  • Jinxed could start with initial morale hit as well at start of mission.
  • That would make this go from bad to super bad, though.
  • Disgraced would be a permanent -1 morale. Now this makes sense to me that your company would be shamed to have them in there.
  • Higher chance to salvage lostech would be very hard to do. That's why I kept the lostech technician easy. Looking at the description the know how to use the tech, but not necessarily how to find it.
  • Spacer - changing event outcomes is tedious and I don't want to do it. Rather not touch the events.
  • Noble: I do like the idea of giving nobles with normal funding levels or less -1 morale per turn. Adding low spirits is cool, but I wonder if this would conflict with the event system at all...

@don Zappo What makes you think they're former criminals? Some of them are thieves, backstabbers, murderers, untrustworthy people who make a living out of Merc work. Think about a criminals way of doing things vs military personnel.

"I'm missing shit from my cabin, I bet it was that thief!" Morale loss = 5
"Is this convict going to shoot me in the back? They might of been paid off by these pirates" Morale loss = 10

You could give Spacers a small evasion bonus on moons because they are more adepted to low-g-environments.

The Quirks are almost done. I expect to have the release version out tonight. See the spreadsheet for the latest functionality:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vhaM5sXP3pIVmQyAJ9kLb_s48-b3vnsv1aTLXRNtsyU/edit?usp=sharing

What the plans are for the remaining quirks:
Definite:
  • Jinxed: +1 to-hit, -1 to-be-hit
  • Klutz: decreased pilot bonus stability to 1%.
  • Noble: +10% maintenance costs, High Spirits at Extravagant funding, Low Spirits at any decreased funding level.
  • Spacer: +1 morale at decreased funding level - they're just used to shit like this in space.
Definite add if I can find a way to access a list of pilots in a drop:
  • Rebellious: No morale gain per turn if in a lance with an Officer or the Commander.
Possible add if I can access the pilot list in a drop, but am open to alternate suggestions:
  • If the lance has an honest and a dishonest pilot in it, the suffer -1 morale per turn.
Not as keen on:
  • Criminal: +1 to inventories at black market worlds.
  • ComStar Adept: Increased XP gain rate.
No real idea on:
  • Unstable.

This just occurred to be, too. Maybe we should have honest/dishonest impact the MBR. Either a flat bonus/malus upon acquiring them, or changing the percentage rate of acquiring it.

Also, the idea of having Comstar adept get a LosTech bonus along with something else seems valid. Or they could start with a stat boost to tactics (or whatever). I think this tag is really rare (only one pilot) so we could do something quite good with it.

You could give Unstable pilots high or low spirits at random intervalls, if that's possible. Maybe even so far as to haven them always on either.

Now THAT's a fantastic idea! On each day passed, do a random roll to see what mood they're in. I love this idea so much.

It has my seal of approval too.

Now give me something amazing for comstar and criminal. ;)

Criminal: chance to generate money every turn, but a chance to lose rep every turn? ;)

Comstar: +2 Special inventories to Former Star League Presence and/or Blackmarket worlds. - This guy has seen some Lostech in Terra. He knows what others do not. What others think is trash, he knows is a treasure.

"Also, the vanilla default number of possible specials in shops is set to 2, which is quite low (also there seems to be a system in place in which every system influences this number on their own, but I have no clue how or even if it works)." -- Advanced LosTech Recurrence creator
"(I personally set it to 6 Specials max, but you do you)
Otherwise you'll gimp your own chances of seeing a new LosTech-Item, as each of the 9 LosTechs has to compete with 122 weapon specials, 45 upgrades (counted as specials by the game) and 6 HeatSink specials, so mod away!" - Advanced LosTech Recurrence creator

I went through every single system JSON and upped the specials to 9.

It barely made a dent in the fact that certain items never appeared.

ComStar -- % chance for "mysterious sabotage" on the Argo each day.

Criminal -- % chance for X c-bills or an inventory item to come up "missing" each day.

Ok, seriously, let me think on those.

Lol, I kinda like the criminal one. If you really want to do some extra work you could do: % for criminal events like theft, fire, or other negative events to be called and give negative outcomes.

Sorry to dig this up, but it wasn't clear when I was reading through the thread.

Since this mod conflicts with 'Injuries Hurt' as stated on the Nexus page for Pilot Quirks, does this mod incorporate that in some way?

IE., when a pilot is injured are their skills negatively effected to reduce their performance due to injury?
