This mod was originally part of a larger project which is still in progress, but since it works fine as a standalone, I figured I could just publish it.

It adds a new religious doctrine, Divine Right, as an option for Pagan reformation and Random World starts. This adds up to three features to the religion, which can also be made available to Christians other than Catholics:
  • Catholic-style coronation ceremonies.
  • Priest nomination, similar to Catholic bishop nomination with Papal investiture.
  • Vassal Dukes and Kings pay homage to their liege. Disabled by default.
Each feature can be enabled individually for religions with the Divine Right doctrine, all Christians, or both.

What does that mean? I'm not familiar with that feature in any part of the game.

The homage event chain is something "new" that I salvaged from the base game file that contains the coronation-related events. Saw its broken trigger while going through the file, fixed it, and since the rest of the chain was actually fully implemented, I decided to throw it in. You can check the Steam mod description (also here) for more information.

Because the event chain triggers every time a Duke+ vassal dies, I suppose it would get pretty spammy and unbalanced in large empires, so it is disabled by default unless and until I get more feedback on it.

This are very nice features..

How do you re enable the homage event chain? does it work for christians as default?

You should consider adding the coronation thing for zoroastrianism

For each feature of the mod, there is a game rule that controls who can access it: Christians, religions with the Divine Right doctrine, both, or neither.

The game rule for homage is set at "neither" by default, and also offers a fifth option (Catholic) that simply restores the "intended" behavior from the base game.

This should be easy to implement, but there are some details that need to be worked out first. I assume you are talking about Zoroastrians specifically, and not the entire Mazdan group?

From an "alt-historical" perspective, I am wondering how "divine right coronations" should interact with the notion of Saoshyant... my original idea (as part of my larger project) was that it should be reserved to him and his descendants, or at the very least, only become available after his appearance. Does anyone have a more educated opinion on this?

The homage is not working for me. I loaded a game as emperor and started killing all my duke vassals and nothing happens

The default game rule disables homage for everyone, as mentioned before. You need to edit your save or start a new game in order to enable it.

In addition, your character needs to be crowned and not command an army.

EDIT: the heir also needs to be at least 12, and not already your direct vassal.

AH! The problem was not being crowned, didn't know that! Thanks. It works perfectly.

In regards to the other, i guess adding it to Mazdans shouldn't hurt.

One tip, zoroastrian rulers had special crowns made for their coronations. That is to say, each ruler had a different crown. It was a matter of prestigious and omen how "powerful" the crown was to the eyes of everyone. It meant a lot.

Maybe you can add some flavor to it.

On another note, consider boosting a bit the opinion modifiers for the homage events. A ruler being disrespectful to his vassal during the homage was no joke, dukes would incite rebellions for that or swear revenge. It was a mater of pride and humillation.

-5 opinion modifier is too little, has to be -25 at least and last years.

Regarding the positive opinion modifier, maybe up to 10 on both ends.

The opinion modifiers for the vassal not showing up or the liege not recieving the vassal are fine.

I will add the relevant options for Mazdan rulers in the next few days. The finer details are a bit out of scope for this mod, however. I have a bigger, "wider" mod in the works, with new options for Zoroastrian as part of its core planned features, so I'm still going to deal with them at some point in the future.

Thanks. the homage chain will almost certainly be rebalanced at some point, and I would be grateful for any feedback on that subject.

Does it still work with the latest CK2 version?
