IRCK3 - Imperator: Rome to Crusader Kings III Extension mod
Compatible with: 1.4.1 (Archimedes)

A mod that pushes the Imperator: Rome end date to the start of Crusader Kings III.

Overview
The mod is intended to extend the playtime of Imperator: Rome to the start date of Crusader Kings III, which is 867 AD. The main goal is to prepare the game for a save converter, which is very likely to appear. This means that CK elements like religions and countries are planned to be added.

Added and planned features
- Annual republic elections.
- Christianity: appearance, early heresies and schisms.
- Islam.

Can I help?
Yes, contributions and suggestions are welcome. There are some specific features I need help with, and some that require an artist. Here are some examples:
- Static layer covering Muhammad's portrait for those who want it.
- New late-game unit models, for example a Late Roman one.

Mod compatibility
The mod is not planned to change a lot of vanilla content, but some vanilla files are edited. Unless you check (for example with a merging tool like WinMerge) if other mod edits the same files, or its authors provide a compatibility patch, you should assume the mod is NOT compatible with IRCK3.

Next version's ETA?
I don't give ETAs.

All my Yes!
I soooo want to play as a Glorious Kingdom of Judea!

Very interesting idea, but a quick heads up, it's been noted that Imperator has stability issues getting past 1450 AUC (726 AD, see this video's description), so you might encounter some problems reaching the target end date.
As mileage may vary when it comes to stability, I'd suggest pulling back the end date to even further, maybe a good cut off point could be 632 AD, and let the CK part to deal entirely with the early muslim conquests.

Also, while I agree with Christianity being higher on the priority list (as happening earlier in the timeline), further down the road there should also be a focus on other important events in the timeline, like the Huns and the Germanic tribes migrations, and closer to the end maybe even the invasion of the Avars and the migration of the Slavs.

And finally, why annual elections?

Thanks, I didn't know about stability issues. However, the video is from August and patch 1.3 has been released in December, so there's a chance that the problem has been fixed. I should probably check this on the current version and the future 1.4 patch.
And finally, why annual elections?
Because both Rome and Carthage had annual elections, and the official reason for 5 years term in vanilla was "to make it more into a fun engaging game, where you care about your characters", while I care more about accuracy. Apart from the elections, the plan is to edit as few vanilla files as possible.

I'd reckon it's related to 1450 AUC being the exact 1000 years mark of the game, which it probably wasn't designed to reach in the first place, so I'm not sure it can even be categorized as a bug.
But yeah, even though chaces of it being fixed should be quite low, testing would be useful.
If you want to go through with reaching 876 AD, then I'd add to the list the muslim conquest as well.

Wouldn't it be better as a separate mod then? To accommodate individual preferences better?

v1.0 "Pliny the Elder"
I'm releasing the first version sooner than initially planned, although with fewer features.

2020-02-02 v1.0 "Pliny the Elder"
Pliny the Elder was a Roman author, a naturalist and natural philosopher, a naval and army commander of the early Roman Empire, and a friend of emperor Vespasian. Pliny the Elder died in AD 79 in Stabiae while attempting the rescue of a friend and his family by ship from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

Fantastic, thank you. Any plans to introduce historical plague events, such as the Antonine, Cyprian or Justinian plagues?

v1.1 "Ammianus Marcellinus"
With a new patch comes a new mod update.

2020-03-31 v1.1 "Ammianus Marcellinus"
Ammianus Marcellinus (born c. 330, died c. 391 – 400) was a Roman soldier and historian who wrote the penultimate major historical account surviving from antiquity (preceding Procopius). His work, known as the Res Gestae, chronicled in Latin the history of Rome from the accession of the Emperor Nerva in 96 to the death of Valens at the Battle of Adrianople in 378, although only the sections covering the period 353–378 survive.

It looks like Rome has no holy sites on startup:

I thought it might be my game files but this only happens when loading the mod.

Also the "Shortened Terms" electoral reform does nothing. I tried it but annual elections is just too many for the way this game is designed (although I also appreciate the attempt at aligning with history) and I wanted to go bi-annual; maybe you can change this reform at least to "Longer Terms" and +1. Of course there is no longer the option for 10-year terms. [I had to use the console to do this reform, which isn't easy in the early game especially with all the annual stab hits.]

I think the issue is on your end. For me, with 1.4.1 and mod enabled, the screen looks like this:

That was quick! Any chance I can convince you to change the default Electoral Model to bi-annual? Annual stab hits are too punishing, especially in the early game, and further especially because it costs significant stability to reform the election law, placing the player quickly into a downward spiralling situation where they cannot acquire enough stability for reform, facing further stab hits every dreaded 1st of October. Bi-annual is still challenging, but doesn't feel like a desperately futile struggle (for all but perhaps the most skilled administrators, such as yourself). Lex Antonia could then reduce it to annual for anyone who wants that extra challenge (presumably later on with more opportunity to improve stability per month). It looks odd having no effect at all.

[That also fixed my Roman Holy Sites issue, for whatever reason.]

You see, the annual election is specifically crafted to make you feel like Casear :D
Wasn't the republic in any case, especially the later part, quite unstable?

Sure, there could be an event that forces a change to the annual election law in the late game. To make it work in the early game would have to tinker with how stability works.
