[_] --------------------- 2021-04-20 ----------------------- [_]

- Compatible with game version 2.0.3
- Updated for full compatibility with the latest patch
- Fixed flag textures. They all now show up without a green overlay

[_] --------------------- 2021-03-15----------------------- [_]

- Mod's been updated on the Workshop too and should be compatible with 2.0.2. However the same problems listed below persist

[_] --------------------- 2021-03-04----------------------- [_]

Mod version 2.0c : (Current Workshop version)
- Updated mission header picture to remove a bad looking transparent section from the bordering texture

[_] Problems in 2.0 :
-- Only ruler background images work, and only due to overwriting vanilla files. Have not found where these are defined to no longer necessitate fully replacing.
Characters other than rulers get a generic background picture with an ornament at the moment
-- Flag texture colors are now defined differently, in a yet unknown way, flag colors messed up (FIXED)
-- Unit texture and model has problems
-- Most interface changes no longer work due to new UI. However many new UI elements work with the theme pretty well
-- New outlines texture, haven't found way to edit. No longer transparent
-- Due to unmoddable insufficient space on the Military Traditions screens Indian Tribal Traditions were removed and they'll use the same Indian Kingdom Traditions.
Because of this they also lost the ability to naval raid. Mesoamericans can still naval raid

[_] What works in 2.0 :
-- Character appearance/ethnicity/tattoos/clothes/names
-- Localization in general
-- Deity icons
-- Military Traditions
-- Changed icons still work
-- Ruler character backgrounds work, but they look the same currently for every tribal ruler on the map due to my not having found where these are actually defined, so the graphical element is just replaced at the moment
-- Flags FIXED

[--------------------------------------------------------]
[__] This mod adds the following :

[_] A Mesoamerican Culture Group and Ethnicity Template
[_] I have included samples of what kind of features these presets create by just spamming Randomize DNA in the Portrait Editor.
This includes what I imagine an amalgamation of the peoples of that general area could have looked like in way back BCE.

[_] Hibernia has been converted to be Mesoamerican with several new small countries
[_] Horses were removed from Hibernia, replaced with other trade goods

[_] Clothing items use existing items from other cultures. Added clothes are texture conversions, not replacements
[_] New hairstyles use existing data. These work as additions, not replacements. Characters will not start balding as they age

[_] Male characters can have tattoos/paints on their face, neck and torso (assigned to them by the game) when they reach adulthood.
In total: Face/Neck: 35+, Body: 9.

[_] The Culture Group uses nubian_gfx unit models with new textures
[_] They follow a Mesoamerican Religion with its own 8 Deities and Omens (with pictures)
[_] They use a set of Mesoamerican Military Traditions (includes pictures)
[_] Event pictures are replaced with Mesoamerican inspired pictures when playing a country with Mesoamerican culture (30+ event pictures included)

[_] Character interactions :
- Can sacrifice a prisoner to gain 30 Political Influence
- Can sacrifice a slave pop via the High Priest for different effects
- Can ask the Magistrate/Steward to levy an extra tax on the nation's elites
- Can demand that the ruler of a subject nation send slaves
- Can send a punishment expedition against that ruler if he disobeys
- Can demand loyalty from a prisoner in exchange for his freedom

[_] Localization, most of which I made up or which may be anachronistic. (English Language Setting Only)
[_] Many UI elements have been changed to incorporate more wood and stone carving like materials with Icon replacements

[_] Includes random events

[_] New loading screens and main menu screen

[--------------------------------------------------------]
[__] Installation :

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1944786866

Or download the .ZIP file at the end of this post.
If you have a manually installed mod version you can overwrite it with the contents of this .ZIP file.

The mod folder content should look like the following after extracting the ZIP :
/My Documents/Paradox Interactive/Imperator/mod/

[_] a folder called MesoamericanHibernia
[_] a file called MesoamericanHibernia.mod

If you downloaded the mod manually, you might need to add it to the new Launcher's Playset selection by selecting the Playset option on the left side of the Launcher and then press the Add More Mods button in the top right corner.

[--------------------------------------------------------]
[__] Compatibility :

[_] Game version : This mod should be compatible with game version 2.0.3
[_] Ironman : Unsure
[_] Multiplayer : May be compatible, but can seem weird to anyone not playing as a Mesoamerican nation since the UI does not revert with this mod active
[_] Other mods : Incompatibility likely with any mod that changes the on_actions event trigger files or changes the amount of Deities due to the way Deities are indexed by the game

[--------------------------------------------------------]
[__] Disclaimer/Other :

Anyone can use these files in whichever way they like: edit, modify, copy, even re-distribute them. Feel free to do whatever with this mod.

Aksumite Group uses numidian_gfx, but on old saves they will continue using the nubian_gfx still.
Mesoamerican shield model lifted from the Iberians, who now use the same model as the Celts.

- Based on detailed quality feedback I reworked Mesoamerican Military Traditions and their Heritage.
The old values were very much a retread/copy of the existing Barbarian Traditions. This time I took a closer look around all the other traditions, too, and tried to stay within equal bounds to all of them.

Military Tradition changes affect ongoing games too, and may mess with people's strategy of going down certain paths, I apologize.

[_] --------------------- 2019-12-26 ----------------------- [_]

Mod was uploaded to Steam by Agamidae, which is appreciated and useful for those who aren't using these forums here.
Steam Workshop page : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1944786866

( Agamidae has created many really good UI improvement mods on Steam https://steamcommunity.com/id/LongGameShort/myworkshopfiles/?appid=859580 .
Mesoamerican Hibernia might be compatible with most since I've only changed the textures of the UI )

(My own Steam username : nmevek)

- Added two new Face/Neck tattoo combinations
- Fixed typos and rewrote parts of some descriptions for better legibility

- Added a plague event chain with around a 3.25% base chance of firing as a Mesoamerican nation.
The event won't happen before the year 475 and only when you own at least 25 provinces (i.e. cities or settlements).

!! When the first cases of the plague are reported you can save your game right after.
Then either let it play out OR you can select an Event Option to CANCEL the plague event chain after the few initial set-up events with your Court Physician
have concluded, should you not feel like playing thru that.
(In my test runs around 35% of Pops in the nation die and around 25% of Characters)

The likelihood of there being a plague :
- Increased if there are populous provinces close to Livestock/Cattle
- If there are large cities
- If there is a port town with a medium to large population
- If the tribe is very centralized
- The nation is large with much land
- If there exists a populous neighboring country with big cities near Livestock/Cattle
- If there are provinces where Mesoamerican Pops live side by side with the natives

- Lessened if the tribe's centralization is low as the people live very loosely
- Also lessened if province population is low to medium
- The longer the game has gone on the less of a chance there is for the event to fire, simulating the population as a whole acclimating to their surroundings and germs
- If there already has been a plague once then less likely it is for a new one to strike as the offspring of the previous survivors are those whose immune systems can fight the disease better

[_] --------------------- 2019-12-23 ----------------------- [_]

- Removed the straits/land crossings connecting Hibernia to Caledonia, you'll need boats to reach the other side
- Changed Sacrifice Slaves Decision into a Character Interaction via the High Priest
- Added province name localization for the British Isles

- Added Character Interaction to Demand Slaves from a Subject Ruler.
- Reshuffled Omen pictures to better represent their effects.
- New Mission UI elements + a replaced Civilization Value icon, and a Queued Events window similar to the Outliner.
- New icons for State and Country capital markers on the map.

Added file For_Music.txt listing some tracks for consideration if playing this mod. (The mod includes no music)

It looks beautiful and has a lot of potential, just imagine a map of mesoamerica with these portraits and other assets :)

I've twice tried making a map but haven't gotten it working.
So far just changing map data on the current map is the best my abilities allow.

Awesome! I'm just going to work on the physical map for now, and I'll let you know when it's done (it might be a while).

I know the Andes region the best, so I can cover that. I also want to port Mesoamerica Universalis as much as possible, since it's accurate to an absurd degree. Art is something I don't want to cover, if that's where you're most comfortable.

Are military traditions culture-bound? It would be cool to have some Andean-style traditions there. I would also need some deity/omen graphics for the Andes, I can suggest some ideas.

Military traditions in game are currently either bound to a Culture, Culture Group or a country Tag. The "allowed" section is versatile and can take other triggers as well.

I don't mind the graphical side of things nor do I mind writing localization, events, character interactions - though sometimes the hardest part is coming up with ideas.

In this current mod I had approached the subject matter from a point of relative ignorance, hence it all mostly being made up and only lightly related to anything historical.

It's great that you're able to work the map, I never could get any modifications to the map working. So yeah, you can send a private message then on the forums here, or on Reddit to username YTnuBF.
