A minimalistic mod that tweaks republican party influence. The following aspects of your country have an impact:
  • governments (+1)
  • diplo stances (+0.5)
  • laws (+0.25-0.5)
Now a merchant republic with trade laws and stance is a lot more likely to have mercantile party in power, oligarchic republic - civic faction, and so on. Otherwise laws and government types are almost unchanged.

Additionally, oligarchic and plutocratic republics now have co-rulers to represent oligarchic power sharing. However, fight me on it if you think it's too ahistorical. :)

The mod was born out of frustration of hardly ever having plutocrats in power in a full-on mercantile republic. Yet in personal game experience I still had to do backroom deals to keep parties I wanted in power, so the influence changes don't seem to be too strong.

The one consequence is that populists are now much less of a nuisance. I'm not entirely sure how to go about it. Should they remain as much of a bother? Were they a constant threat all the time or should they rise later in the game? It's easy to patch in, I'm just not sure what they are supposed to represent and as such how everpresent they should be.
