I want to present to you my mods for Imperator: Rome. They are visual mods that don't change anything about the gameplay. Everything here is ironman & achievement compatible. This also means you're free to use them in multiplayer, even if other players don't.

Available on Steam and PDX Mods!

NERO - Dark UI

a dark themed user interface overhaul that remains true to the game's original style. Ironman & achievement compatible beacuse it does not change the game's checksum.

It is the first mod of a series that aims to adjust the visuals of Imperator: Rome.

Features
  • Complete reskin of the UI
  • New textures for menu borders (marble columns), menu headers
  • Color coded pop happiness icons
  • Categories and actions clearly distinguishable in diplo menu
  • Clean black and slightly transparent background for tooltips
Known Issues
Changing font colors also changes the checksum, so I had to work around that by carefully adjusting brightness settings, in order to make everything readable. Turning the main background texture too dark results in unreadable black text, while turning it too bright results in unreadable green/red text. Therefore the settings menus (general, messages, outliner) don't look exactly great with black letters against a dark background.

NERO - Mosaic Menu Buttons
an Add-On for Nero - Dark UI. It replaces the menu buttons in the topbar with mosaic themed buttons.

Ironman & achievement compatible. Doesn't change checksum.

NERO - GFX Tweaks
makes various aesthetic adjustments to Imperator: Rome.

Features
  • Warm color temperature, also slightly darker than vanilla.
  • Slightly less transparent map modes
  • Slim aesthetic map font (You may know it from my EU4/CK2 mod Theatrum Orbis Terrarum)
  • Borders that make it easier to distinguish between city borders, province borders, and state borders
  • Hides HOI4-style edge borders
  • Dark water with a less cloudy sky than vanilla. Also gets rid of the weird reflection when tilting and turning the camera.
  • Plain colored clothes for celtic female characters
  • Reduced fog

Excellent as always, thank you for your work Kryo ;)
Could we please have a flat map as well?
Cheers!

Glad you like it! Like I said on steam, if no one else releases a flat map mod, I'll probably make one.

Wait is this confirmed that there is actually an load order in IR now for mods?
Well, when I put that in the description, I was under the impression that reordering mods in the "manage mods" tab of the launcher would change the load order. When playing a while later, the Mosaic Buttons mod suddenly didn't work anymore despite it being above Dark UI. So I added a dependency to the mod file that makes sure Dark UI loads first.

Sure buddy! I always liked your flat maps since MEIOU, you remember my fetish for them, right? I just love your work's artistic style
As far as I can see, there is no flat map atm ;)

Can't say that I remember that, just your font size fetish :p We share that one :)

Yeah, that one too. Never went to Vanilla fonts again, for any of my games. I always have my eyes open for any of your map and font updates.
Cheers :)

This mod(pack) looks indeed excellent and I’d like to try it. Upfront question: has it been tried to be MP compatible? Reason: I’ve read a few times now, that mods often/mostly didn’t/don’t work in MP (but couldn’t check myself yet).

I didn't try it personally in MP, but I did unlock achievements while playing Ironman with all three NERO mods enabled. Checksum with enabled NERO mods is the same as vanilla (112c) so I'm sure it will also work in MP, even if you're the only one using it.

Awesome and thanks, Kryo, for such a quick reply! That’s very confidence inspiring and will report back on Wednesday!

@Kryo777
Hey buddy,
I'm waiting for 1.0.1 to continue my game. Do you think we could have the flat map in the following days?
If you have the time and mood ofc;)

@Kryo777
Thanks for all your aesthetic mods, i really can´t play EUIV or CKII without them and I was really eager to see the evolution of your take on Imperator Rome, i really hope you can update these mods soon
