For some reason, every time I select a bookmark the game immediately crashes for me. I'm running vanilla, but I've tried both the latest patch and a rolled back version (to 2.2.1, which won't load at all). Is there some Required DLC?

I am lazy. Could you please put it on the Steam Workshop?

Hey, just trying out this mod, and I have a question - having looked him up on the White Wolf Wiki, shouldn't Mithras have the Persian graphical culture?

I wanted to change it myself, but apparently that invalidates all of the nWoD characters for some reason.

The mod is crashing with the latest patch for Way of Life in vanilla. Earlier in the thread I discuss why. If you'd like to play the mod, revert your game to version 2.2.1, mod should work with that. I hear that you are saying that it does not, gruegirl. No DLC is required. Stating exactly where it is crashing can be helpful for troubleshooting, like whether it crashes during the loading flags, or whether it crashes when selecting a character, etc...

However, I am probably not going to go back and troubleshoot problems with 2.2.1 compatible version now. I'm focusing on bringing a version for 2.3.1

DahndI, I might place it on SteamWorkshop in the future. Probably after I get in the fixes for 2.3.1. It might need to be broken up into more than one mod. This Mod adds a lot of flags.

jmberry, Thats an interesting suggestion. One issue though is with how the game generates courtiers. If Mithras is set to culture "Persian", his initial courtiers will be all persian. Likewise, if he is set to "roman" they all end up as "roman". That doesn't make much sense at the War of Princes bookmark at 1230. Also, in terms of game mechanics, culture is the culture a character is currently participating in. Mithras could have "gone native" in Britain so as to better integrate with the locals, so his culture could be "saxon" or "english" or whatever. The problem you are running into in editing is simple... there are TWO Mithras characters. One for NWOD and one for CWOD. You should edit the Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod\Princes_of_Darkness_v_0.1.7\history\characters\POD_CWOD_Vampire_Characters file. Not the POD_Characters files.

In the future, I'll probably rename the DAV characters in the NWOD scenario to some unique things, rather than cause confusion with DAV/CWOD scenario.

Progress is ongoing with fixing provinces and title. Its going to be a while, probably well into February before I release something. However, I'll also be releasing a modder resource that combines WTWSMS and Vanilla history/provinces that has all dates redone for AUC ab urbe condita--from the founding of the city of Rome. See earlier in this thread the discussion of while I'm doing that.

What seems to have happened is my steam install (which is the only one I can seemingly roll-back) clashed with my non-steam install of the game... I'll reinstall and just wait for a 2.3 patch.

Since both a new The Final Nights and Antitribu mod are out, I suppose we won't be hearing from you for awhile? :3
I'm actually not playing those. I did a replay of bloodline a few months ago. I was looking forward to Project Vaulderie so its a shame that didn't work out.

No, I'm unfortunately doing a boring combination of some province files between WTWSMS and vanilla. I'm then going to rework all the dates for AUC. I'll probably release a modder resource with that content. Then, I'll rebuild the province info on AUC dates for World of Darkness. The earlier work I did with graphics, events, etc... should all work.

I'm sorry this is taking a long time, but its going to take a long time.

It is a damn shame about Vaulderie (damn you to hell CCP!) :(

A question I had on this mod - with dark worldlies having these "holdings" all over the world, when realms are depicted on the map, is this simply a reflection of what the supernaturals hold? i.e. when it would say, say that Mithras is Prince of London, it's only in the sense that he is in charge in the supernatural world of London, right? Or do all these people having holdings mean they are actually in charge of their nations? If this is so, is the "real world" still going on in the background?

I'd like to know this as well, though I'd imagine it'd be RIDICULOUSLY hard to do without completely recoding CK2 from scratch. Then again I suppose some scripted events on specific dates regarding what mortal happenings beyond the ken of WoD stuff are doing (such as the inquisition) might be possible.

The map will only reflect the supernatural holdings. "Religions" are actually Sects like the Sabbat or the Circle of the the Crone. The only thing about the mudane that will intrude is the provincial culture. Ideally, I'd like culture to change over time and have supernatural characters have no influence over time... so you could have a Saxon Prince of London, thought the culture is English.

Small update to the Wiki

FAQ: Early Crones in the World of Darkness

The Circle of the Crone is a modern amalgamation of various vampire cults. In the Roman and Medieval era, they were not allied-but were actually rivals. They will be grouped together in a pagan vampire group that allows warfare between them. The Celtic pagans will group together as Fuil-Beannaithe--"Blood Blessed" as referenced in Dark Eras. The Germanic pagans particularly the Saxons will group together as Weihan Cynn--"Wood Witches" as referenced in Dark Eras. Roman-Hellenic pagans will group together as the Cult of Augurs as referenced in Requiem for Rome. Weihan Cynn was still distinct from Fuil-Beannaithe as late as Elizabethan England and even the colonial period.

For now, I've decided to try a different approach. The AUC calendar was proving very tedious with trying to combine WTWSMS dates with vanilla. I was still running into the problems that are part of Kingdom Abound Titular generator.

Instead, I've decided to leave the vanilla history/characters and history/provinces unmodified. Instead, an event fired off by the Storyteller will modify provinces to supernatural covenants depending upon vanilla culture, religion and storyteller bookmark. This will probably allow for more rapid development of bookmarks.

The concept is working so far. I'll need to polish it and address a couple other issues of compatibility with Way of Life. I should have something to release for one bookmark in a shattered world form in a couple of weeks.

Here is a screenshot of the new method working:

Great to see this being updated again! One question though, have you experienced any freezing/slowdowns when running that storiteller event? For some reason, when I use one such big event on_startup the game freezes for me. Calling it from another event or decision is fine though (my events creates new holdings, instead of changing owners, so this might not affect PoD, but just in case...). By the way, are you no longer updating the GitHub?
