this ones beyond my meger ability but some of you guys.....

We need star maps.. not "entirety of known space" star maps but theater maps the Davion Kurita border zone for the war of 39, south of Terra stretching to just past Sarna for the 4th war Fed Suns Capellan fight. Terra north to Trellwan for the 4th war Kurita V Lyran. Terra westward for FWL v LC. Various peripheral zones to cover minor area's. And of course clanward area's where the clans would hit the IS in 3050, a Jihad era map centered around Terra.. and a ROTS map covering mostly the same area for a game set during the Dark Age period.

Dig out a copy or borrow the 4th war sourcebook as the world and area that need to be covered are there.

Of course I'm not asking a little thing.. never ask for little ask for big. People may just surprise you. And never ever EVER tell 'em "it can't be done". That's just mean!

The below are my experiences, but you may get other responses from other modders.

Adding Star Systems isn't an issue. I have a simple mod that adds 16 star systems to the current map area, though they only appear at the start of a new campaign.

However, the background map is a bit of a problem, as the borders are sort of fluid and sort of not.

Morpheus made a mod that adds the whole inner sphere with icons in each faction's locations, and eliminated the auto-borders. This could be modified to suit your needs.

That being said, he hasn't really updated it in a bit, as I believe he is awaiting an expected change to the ways factions are added/removed from the game (a coding change). I don't mean to speak for him, so you can hit him up on Discord and ask ;)

One of the other issues with map changes (and faction changes), is that they are less recoverable then many other modifications (can't convert back to vanilla just by removing the offending items like you can with 'mechs, vees, weapons, etc.). I have also seen cases where even after deactivating and uninstalling my game was still looking for those star systems (mind you, this was back in BT 1.2).

The guy making the save editor (Jaime Wolf) is going to look and see if he can recover from those changes, so that may be a solution for the future.

What I'd love to see is an event that can be triggered to load different quadrant maps - basically using the same sort of method the Campaign does to transition different periods. Then use tags to have specific star systems appear/disappear.

very like what I was thinking sir... doing a campaign story or linked flash points (ie cannot do FP-X until FP Y completed) line is much easier to present to folks with a smaller star map...
