Installation: Typical.. clean install of battletech, make a "mods" folder.. unzip the mod into that folder after downloading and then run the Modtek injector.

Interaction with other mods: Read the notes.. some mods will not play nice, others will counteract what the author has created so go vanilla install first then sub mod by sub mod add them in to get what you want. I'm running a few extra mods over the install at this point, but nothing earthshaking. (well ok, one is kinda earthshaking.. add quirks to the base chassis of the vanilla pre HM mechs. Apparently made things a little harder on myself but while edmon I am not, I ain't bad!)

The Play; primarily centered around Arano campaign play but no doubt quite career friendly kinda sorta.
Mission difficulty gives a suggested drop wieght but you can exceed the drop wieght. However, you make less money when you do so if your running out of money (and the author starts you with 15 million), dude, ya gotten lighten up!

*snickers*

Pilot progression is slower then normal built in and as your gear improves.. so will that of your opposition. You will run into mechs that are just as hard hitting as anything you can field, So even though you should be able to easily (tm) out think the AI, do not count on having the fire power advantage that your normally used to mid and late game. So overall there is a little more emphasis on managing your assets.

Overall impression: This is a good solid little package that primarily tweeks the base game "economy", adds some harder hitting variants of the stock mechs, and inhibits your pilot progression a little to give you a more challenging game. He does a few other interesting things but I'll leave those as surprises to be discovered.. and trust the old guy here, let your self discover them! It will be fun, and a little challenging. You don't need to be an uber player.. but if you have played through the base campaign at least once this will make a second run though a bit more challenging with out leaving a bad taste in your mouth.

I'm giving it a 8+ out of 10 (because no one should get a 10)

Well done!

Quick add of mods I am running with Bourbon,

Flashpoint mods.. "Jinxed", The Pheripery is a harsh mistress", "The Cache" (bit of a cheat mod in the current form, needs a toned down version reward wise), "The Raid", and "Fighting Ghosts". (as more appear I will add them in because you can never have to many custom missions)

Other mods. "BattleMechQuirks" Always Combat Turns", "DontSHootTheDead","JK_Pilots","skipToLeapoard","PilotHealthPopup",

Hey TLRoff, Was quite surprised to see this post, thx a lot for your write up and the nice feedback!
On a quick note: Your "other mods" contain "DontShootTheDead" which is part of Bourbon, and "PilotHealthPopup" which patches the same method as the included "LittleThings" and (depending on load-order) might be overridden (or override my implementation -> I show "injuries, not health, because you can't know health :))

I don't know if one may post links to mods here, i'll try nevertheless. For all who are interested in trying out yourself:

{Mod edit: no unapproved links}

Sorry Timaeus, i'll try to remember...
So, for all interested just google "github battletech bourbon" or "nexus battletech bourbon" to find what TLRoff is talking about.
