So here is the official thread for my Chiss mod. I managed to put it in the steam workshop in the night. As every Star Wars fan knows, the Chiss are a blue-skinned, red eyed, near-human species most famous for the smart imperial Grand Admiral Thrawn. This mod adds them under the phenotype category "Mammalian" to Stellaris.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=683184786

The mod also includes:
- the uniform of a Grand Moff for your ruler
- the outfit of a chiss general (male and female)
- the outfit of a chiss admiral (male and female)
- the outfit of a chiss aristocrat for female governeurs
- Chiss name list with over 2500 unique male and female names
- the symbol of the Chiss Ascendancy
- more hair styles/colors regardless of the skin type, including red hair.

Attention
- the change to the hair styles affects also the humans and is not bound on the Chiss.
- this mod should be compatible with all other mods, save games and so on.
- Not ironman compatible as far as I know.

Known Issues
None

Updated Version 9.0
Added:
- admiral and general uniforms

Plans for the future
I may work on:
- outfits for governeurs, pops for males and females

The male uniform is based on the picture "An Unexpected Meeting" from Darren Tan alias wraithdt, copyright by Lucasfilm Ltd.
The general uniform is based on the picture from Dave Seeley from the backcover of the book Outbound Flight
The aristocratic outfit is based on an illustration in the FFG sourcebook Enter the Unknown

Heh, Chiss. Neat idea. One quibble though -- that's the Grand Moff uniform. The Grand Admiral uniform is a white uniform with epaulettes, and a different rank insignia.

Like so:

A quibble and a legitimate quibble. It's corrected in the description, thanks for the heads up :) Don't know how I could forget this, must be all the thinking about admirals.^^ I tried making the uniform white though but it didn't worked (I can imagine some would really like having Thrawn as a ruler^^), maybe in the future with fitting rank insignia and shoulder epaulettes (that's a must).

I am happy to hear that you like it Ventessel :)

I updated the mod to 6.0, changing the Chiss from Custom to Mammalian, to prevent the AI spam. I also added a new outfit for female governeurs:

This looks fantastic. I love the uniforms - I hope someone makes a human race that uses them at some point.

Another update:
I added a Grand Moff uniform for male chiss rulers!

I also decided to continue working a bit on the name list, seems because I left many ships blank that the game would chose some not so nice looking namings, so I am going to add at least a few.

There seems to be a couple of mistakes on the name list - especially on the ship names.

Major Update:
I added General and Admirals

@GarbrBad
I am aware of that. Reason is, that I didn't include ships, I left it blank. There just aren't many chiss names. I am going back to the name list and add imperial names instead, that should resolve any problems with the list. It just didn't had high priority after I wanted to finish the uniforms first.^^

Very nice.

The Chiss were nothing to do with the Empire and the title of Moff in general up until Thrawn was sent into the Unknown Regions. And they didn't even use that title after that.

True. But Imperial uniforms look cool.

Personally, I like using Imperial Names for the ships. It's not like we have a ton of info on the chiss alone. If we did, then there'd be no need for Imperial names (or even 'clothes').

EDIT: Also, as soon as I wake up tomorrow, I might make some ship names lists for you. Might help a bit. Using Imperator-class for BBs, for a start, then go down a class and follow from that.

EDIT 2: Here it is. A ton of Battleship names, and a couple of other names for the other classes. I also fixed a couple of typos. I think it may work.

Thanks for the support CarbrBard, the names and fixing the typos, it's very much appreciated. I updated the mod to version 11.0 with the updated name list I also added some names, some after classes, some after battles, so we might not have the biggest list but a nice variety. I think it should work better now but I didn't tested it.

As for the lore discussion:
True. But Imperial uniforms look cool.

Pretty much this. Of course I am looking into the lore and try to stay close to it but sometimes it's style over substance. The initial plan was the what I first uploaded, than it became more and as I wanted the chiss to play imperial themed and I think most prefer them that way, it happened this way.^^

Found a bug on the localization files - it should be saying english, but it says german. Fixing it makes the chiss namelist actually say 'Chiss' instead of 'chiss_name_list'. As you play on german, you just need to copy the "chiss_l_english.yml" file, rename the second one to "chiss_l_german.yml", and change the first line from "l_english:" to "l_german:". I also kinda got overexcited, and went on to create them as a prescripted country so they always appear as AI (you can change that on their prescripted_country files. Just look for spawn_enabled="always" and change the always to "yes", if they might appear, or "no" if they may never appear), and created a unique AI that might be close enough to Star Wars' canon. What do you think?

EDIT: Honestly, I realize now that I posted it that I could have fixed the localization for you - and then translated it to Spanish, French and Brazilian Portuguese (the languages I speak).

I'm playing with a chiss empire and sometimes I found that my neighbour's portrait changes to chiss, than back to original. What is causing this?

Will there be any updates? Portrait, namelist?
