yes! please, I love minor titles but it seems like they don't have any flavor.

Also @cybrxkhan Question: Will bring back your west African Griots or the Finnish Shamanism stuff? What about the travel around your realm stuff? :)

Hello there old friend! Anyways no plans for rebooting the old Immersion content at the moment, though my Immersion Packs will serve as a spiritual successor to those. A few old Immersion events like the Survey Realm stuff I might re-adapt as standard boring VIET Events stuff, though.

Thank you for coming back, Always love your mods since i got my hands on ck2

Thank you!

I played around with the current version, it seems to be working fine. My ruler had an evenr where he dreamed about his first love, that was sweet. After a few hours of play my game game crashed without any prompt while autosaving, but I'm playing with other mods so it must be one of those. I will play some more tomorrow.

Ah yes, that was the first event I wrote up for the new set of events actually. :) Anyways yeah I guess if there's no pattern to the crashing and/or the error log doesn't show anything, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what's causing it, because I've had that sort of thing happen to me even on vanilla before.

Awesome. Hey, Cybr, how are you doing? Hope you are feeling alright.

Not doing too bad these days - health and life is all stable for now - but time really flies by doesn't it? Nice to see you're still around the CKII world as well!

Cool. Events that focus more on the roleplay and day to day stuff really add a new layer to the game.

PD: I think they cock jokes were fine and not out of line for the era. These are the people who would eventually wear codpieces, cock-shaped daggers and often had a puerile sense of humour.

Yep, I am. Don't play it as much, but I'd still be happy to have this for when I do. Though I might get back into it, maybe play around with this and other mods that I enjoy.

A lot of these events are irrelevant gameplay wise (who cares about getting one piety?) and/or don't really have a best min-max option, so if you like that I hope they'll satisfy you.

And yes, that was my argument for the cock puns. Unfortunately there was quite a bit of backlash to those events and the very negative association a number of people have with those and this mod (literally the first thing you see when you search VIET Events is an aptly named "Why You Shouldn't Get VIET Events" or something to that effect, which is about the cock puns) - so I've decided if it's that unpopular I'll remove it. However, given it seems now that there's still a couple of you into that, I think in the future I'll add a game rule called something like "VIET Easter Eggs" or something that is disabled by default but will enable these and a few other really silly events.

Cool cool, glad to provide!

The French translation of much of the mod is thanks to Loup99.
While I did coordinate the effort, filled in holes and proofread parts of it, most of the VIET files were actually translated by @Mouchi and Domper59, so they definitely deserve to be credited as well, if not more than me.

Noted, will update credits section. Is NicolasGrosjean the same as one of those two up there?

Yes, NicolasGrosjean is also known as Mouchi (which is his forum username).

The Prince and the Thane won't come back however, it relied on using the SWMH map and that is in HIP now. Friends and Foes on the other hand could be rebooted. ;)
Friends and Foes had its own map mods in West Africa. (Maybe elsewhere, but those I remember from trying to update it a few years ago.) Bringing back either one would involve adapting the mod to the current map, not a trivial exercise.

Just as a heads up for everyone, but next update will probably be posted tomorrow or the day after, assuming nothing else is off. The tentative updates are already up on github, in case you want to give that a spin. The next update will include about 100 additional events, including both new events and those from old VIET (such as the infamous Toothbrushing Siblings event chain), alongside a number of other additions and tweaks (such as a few new death types, some events now impacting decadence and prosperity, and so on).

EDIT: Oh, and I just forgot - merry New Year to everyone!

Yes, NicolasGrosjean is also known as Mouchi (which is his forum username).

Thanks!

Great to see the return of VIET and another celebrity mod developer :)

And thank you! :)

The West Africa part is likely unecessary now. The author maybe added it before we even got Mali in the game.

Sorry cybrxkhan, I have forgotten to mention it.

Ok, I will merge the 5 translated file by Domper59 not merged yet, and continue to translate the new content in French.
Merry New Year !

Version 2.0.1 "Dawn" (Released 1/1/19)
VIET EVENTS 2.0.1 "DAWN" HAS BEEN RELEASED!
Steam Workshop Download | Github Manual Download

“Every quarter has known us, and none bore our passing except with trembling. Perhaps you came to us through war, or study, or shadow, or the alignment of certain snakes. Though each path matters in its kind, the prize is always thus: welcome, novitiate, that you are here at all means that you have the worthiness of kings. Seek thy pocket now, and look! There is the first key, glinting with the light of a new dawn.”

Merry New Year to everyone, and with it brings a new update for VIET: version 2.0.1 “Dawn,” which adds around 100 events, some new ones and some pulled from old VIET Events (including a few VIETeran favorites). There are other major improvements too:

  • VIET Events game rule is now at the top of the game rules section for better visibility (credits to Mouchi)
  • Some VIET events will now affect decadence for Muslim characters as well as a province’s prosperity
  • A few new death types

Any input with balance and bugs is much appreciated as I reboot VIET. In particular I am still determining a right balance in how often these events fire. Here's the changelog:

  • Added 12 events inspired by TES IV Oblivion’s soundtrack
  • Added 8 Sun themed events
  • Added 17 Prophecy and Future themed events
  • Added new event chain: Oblivion (will be disabled with “Serious” game rule due to references)
  • Re-added the following events from old VIET: 9 Muslim, 7 Drink and Alcohol, 4 Elder Scrolls references, 5 Dirty, 3 Nature, 7 Dream, 7 Vegetables, 3 Water, 6 Bitter, 5 Eggs, 3 Dulcinian*
  • Re-added the following event chains from old VIET: Toothbrushing Siblings, Burnt Bread, and Succubus (first one will only appear with “All Events” game rule)
  • Several VIET province events will now increase or decrease prosperity in said province
  • Several VIET events will now lower or raise decadence for Muslim characters
  • Added some additional French localizations, courtesy of loup99, Mouchi, and Domper59 (some isn’t completed yet but will be finished in the next update!)
  • Added new deaths: Choked to death on food, Stung by Scorpion, Found Mysteriously Dead on Bed
  • Added several new scripted triggers for efficiency: is_sinosphere_small_trigger, is_sinosphere_large_trigger, is_baklava_culture_trigger, is_hummus_culture_trigger
  • VIET Events rule is now at the top of the game rules section for better visibility, and changed the text and color somewhat - credits to Mouchi
  • Added some new event pictures
  • Replaced the Greek and Italian food event pictures
  • Zoroastrian incest event now disabled with Serious game rule
  • “Who Cut the Cheese” event now only enabled with “All Events” game rule
  • Changed Trade Value effects of Bridge Collapse and Haunted Ship to be more in line with vanilla modifiers
  • Ancient Pottery artifact now gives +1 learning
  • Fixed Pistachio event having “Send emergency resources immediately!” option
  • Other misc bug and localization fixes, many courtesy of IHateTrains
*No actual Dulcinian heresy from the old VIET Imemrsion added. Based on the WTWSMS version, some of the old Dulcinian flavor events have been adapted to other religions and heresies as appropriate.

And some screenshots of the stuff that has been added to this update, both old and new:

For those worried about the blatant TES references, fear not - those will be disabled if you choose the Serious game option; Balanced will disable the more blatant ones.

Merry New Year to you too! And thank you to you guys for working so hard on the French translation!

I don't think that most of the silly events are that out of place in CK2, considering some of the references that Paradox put in as is. :p
