Hey guys,

So, the beta patch apparently softcodes the end date of the game. This is an amazing addition! But it has me thinking: what, specifically, do modders intend on doing with this capability?

Mods stretching into the Principate, or into the Dark Ages...it's an exciting possibility. I could see this almost becoming the norm for mods.

Thoughts?

There should definitely be a Dark Ages mod, especially as 'The Dark Years' (for EU3) is dead.

Also, something about the fall of the Roman Empire (like the visigoth/ostrogoth invasions and sacking of Rome) would be nice.

Indeed the changeable end date works! I love thus since my game are usually planed for the long run and went into the old end date.

I will extend definitively Magna Terra to 476 AD. Magna Terra is screaming out for Trajan's plans :D And I WILL create Jesus. So full of epic win.

After that, I'll have to see how the game is performance-wise due to all the new flags.
I would LOVE to cover all the Dark Ages as currently there is no (1, 2?) dark ages game, no love to the "countries" of the period game-wise. Also, I'll have to learn the history of Asia (and Europe) while doing that, and I have learned so much because of modding. I had no idea before of the warring states in China, etc, and I'm pretty sure Asia offers some messed up (=funny to play) stuff during the dark ages.

On the Jesus thing, will he stay in the Judea-Palestine region or perhaps travel to India as a couple tales/legends suggest?

Would be cool to see some of the Apostles also travel. Perhaps setting one of them as governor, making him rebel and establish a nation?

This is simply awesome! Since the summer I have been working on a mod that focuses on the time after 3rd century crisis, the time of barbarian and muslim invasions and all cool stuff. I had already worked it out by using those AVC dates as AD but this might allow to play from the beginning of Roman Empire until the destruction of it :)
